Description

Outstanding For Fast And Dry XC Tracks

The THUNDER BURT Super Ground 29 inch MTB tire is Schwalbe's fastest MTB tire because of Its low weight and extremely low rolling resistance.

Tightly packed center knobs will keep you fast while beefier side knobs keep you upright when the terrain gets technical.

The THUNDER BURT is a marvelous combination of many different ride characteristics that sacrifices very little in terms of performance. This is the go-to-tire for XC racers in dry conditions, or gravel/singletrack shredders with drop bar frames that tout wide tire clearances.

Super Ground—Durable and Lightweight With All-Round Application

Schwalbe's proven SnakeSkin construction has been further improved—a light and flexible fabric layer makes the tire cut-proof, both on the tire sidewalls and under the tread.

Low weight with good puncture protection allows for a wide range of technical applications— from XC to All Mountain.

The superground construction is Perfectly suited for hardtails and bikes with medium travel.

Features:

  • Multiple small, flat studs for fast and quiet rolling
  • Numerous grip edges for hard ground
  • Edged shoulder studs for good grip and control in curves
  • Folding bead, TLE

Great on Gravel and Handles the Hardpack

Running these front & back on a hardtail in the 2.25in size for mixed terrain training rides (hardpack and gravel). Light, fast and tough with reasonable tread life. And, unlike some other brands, they actually inflate up to the spec'd width. Just bought another set at 2.1" size.

Fast and light mt bike tire for dry conditions and hardpack

Using these tires on my XC mt bike when racing rough and softer gravel race courses where my gravel bike would struggle. They work well on dry hardpack trails, too. I have found that they don't provide much traction in wet slippery conditions.

Superb fast rolling tire for smoother single track and gravel. Minimal rolling resistance.

Bought these as a plus size tire on my Lauf Siegla for some light flow and single track riding. My first ride on these were on the Chequamegon gravel roads and the CAMBA trails and I found that the tire is fast, light and durable and handles dry non-technical trails. The grip is commendable on the straights and climbing but does tend to wash out if you hit the corners too fast. They do get a little sketchy when the trails get a bit more aggressive. Riding on anything muddy should be avoided if you want to stay upright. They are a great wider gravel tire and make riding to the trails a breeze.

Dry Cali
rating

I can remember there being some kind of drought in California since I was a young kid in the 80's. Things haven't changed. I've been trying not to flush my toilet as much. Maybe TMI. Constant drought means it's dry and often dusty out here in the Bay Area and nearby Sierras. For these conditions, the Thunder Burt is ideal as a rear tire. It rolls fast and has enough corner grip for all of my XC needs. Paired with a Racing Ray, I have no complaints. I replace them when the side knobs are shredded. My only complaint is that they cost a lot.
