Description

The Premier XC Race Tire

The Maxxis Rekon Race WT MaxxSpeed/EXO/TR 29" is a semi-slick XC race tire that features the lowest profile tread in their XC line. It is a great choice for dry XC trails and short track racing. For 2023, this version now features the new MaxxSpeed compound.

The semi-slick design borrows its tread design from the trail version of the Rekon, but with smaller and shorter knobs. Choose the Rekon Race Wide Trail if speed is your necessity, and crossing the finish line first is your goal.

MaxxSpeed

Developed in cooperation with Nino Schurter, the winner of more World Championship and World Cup titles than any rider in XC history, the new MaxxSpeed uses a silica filler to improve both speed and wet traction. Testing shows that MaxxSpeed reduces rolling resistance by more than 25%, providing an edge which can shave as much as a minute off a rider's time in a 90-minute race.

This dramatic improvement in performance hasn't been confined to the lab. MaxxSpeed has delivered real-world results for Schurter and other SCOTT-SRAM riders for the past several seasons, aiding multiple World Cup and World Championship wins.

EXO is a cut- and abrasion-resistant material added to the sidewalls of Maxxis tires. This densely woven fabric is lightweight and highly flexible, ensuring that the performance of the tire remains unaffected. Choose EXO Protection for enhanced durability for gravel, XC, and light-duty trail riding.

Maxxis recommends that you use Wide Trail XC tires with a 25-30mm wide rim (30mm is optimal). Maxxis recommends a minimum of 6mm clearance between the tire and all parts of the bicycle frame and fork.

Light supple race tire for speed.

I purchased this tire set for a 50-mile mountain bike race and they were outstanding. They are light and supple with the 120 TPI. I wasn't sure how they would do cornering and just when you thought you lost traction the cornering knobs kicked in and got you through the turn. I can see this being a fast-rolling option from XC through most trail riding.
