Description The Benchmark for Maximum Control in Muddy Conditions
With a tread design that deftly balances rolling speed with braking and cornering traction, it's hard to find fault with the Maxxis Minion DHF Wide Trail EXO/TR 29" MTB Tire. That's probably why it's one of the most imitated tires in mountain biking.
Whether riding local trails, a backcountry epic, racing enduro, or World Cup downhill, there's a Minion DHF spec to meet your needs. The Minion WT is optimized for wider rim widths, giving you the added traction you desire.
Features:
Ideal tire for aggressive riding
Ramped knobs for low rolling resistance, fore-to-aft channel-cut knobs for straight line control, large block side knobs for cornering
TR: tubeless ready
WT: Wide trail casing is optimized for 30-35mm inner width rims
EXO: Protection for exceptionally rocky, treacherous trails where the chance of sidewall cuts and abrasions is high.
Width: 2.5" and 2.6"
Compound: Dual
Bead: folding
Weight: ~1,007g (2.5"), ~978g (2.6")

Great grip as long as you are not turning

This tire (or is it tyre?) provides great grip as long as you are not turning.
The gap in the tread between the shoulder and the main surface of the tire where there are no blocks causes non linear steering response and loss of grip. To get around this, I really have to lean the bike into the turn to get the shoulder tread blocks to grip.
Maxxis knows this too. That is why they built the Assegai. A much better front tire.
I also think Michelin Wild Enduro front is a better tire than the Maxxis Minion DHF/DHR.

These really make my bike pop. I love the two tone. Grip seems to be top notch also.
