Description Tread For The Muddiest Conditions
When the going gets tough, the Continental Mountain Kings keep rolling. The performance line of the Mountain Kings combines a great price point with high-grade Continental rubber. For an affordable price, this tire comes tubeless-ready and uses Continental's PureGrip rubber compound — meaning you can run those coveted low pressures and maintain traction in the worst conditions. PureGrip not only provides great grip, but it is also long-lasting and highly durable, so you can get more life out of each set of tires.
Out of all the MTB tires in Continental's lineup, the Mountain Kings tread design is the best suited for wet and muddy conditions. The aggressive knobs on the centerline of the tire dig deep into loose dirt and mud, so you won't spin out on those steep climbs or wipe out on slick descents.
Finally, the Mountain King tires are constructed with the ShieldWall System, so you don't flat out when the first sharp rock knicks your tire. The ShieldWall system combines the optimum combination of high puncture protection and low rolling resistance with low weight. This is made possible by an additional, all-around puncture protection layer, which consists of a finely woven cross fabric. This gives the tire a high resistance to punctures and damage.
If you find yourself looking for a reasonably priced tire that can go the distance in all-terrain — give the Continental Mountain Kings a go. You won't regret it.

Love the tire. Grips extremely well. Riding the rocky trails of Mt. Tam in Marin doesn't phase the ride on this tire. Increases my riding confidence as well. Good buy for the money!
