Taking a file to old pads to remove the glaze helps but new Shimano pads perform better and likely reduce rim ware
Taking a file to old pads improves braking but new Shimano pads are better and also reduce damage to rims.

These pads work very well in wet and dry conditions. Solid stopping power, and excellent modulation. They work better than Kool Stops and every bit as well as Swiss Stops. They seem to wear a bit quicker than some brands in wet weather, but they have great grab and feel. I'm sticking with these Dura Ace pads.

I'm really happy with the new compound featured in these pads. The old Shimano pads would pick up grit on wet rides and then literally grind the rims until the braking surfaces looked like old LP records. These new pads have almost entirely eliminated that problem. To me, it seems that these pads are also more grippy than the old versions, and I find my stopping distances are decreased. Modulation is very good as well. The only complaint, and not one I am willing to deduct a star for, is that they seem to wear out much faster than the old compound.

Easy to install. You got no excuse to replace them.

I switched back to my alloy rimcarbon fairing wheel set for the Mtn. Momma century. Lots of climbs - I counted 9 with epic, switchback descents. Not once did I feel out of control braking as the Shimano pads instilled confidence in the turns.

These replaced the stock pads that came on my Specialized Allez. They fit perfectly into the stock shoe housings, but the new pads were noticeably better in both wet and dry. These were a good investment!

These things will stop you on a dime if you want! Sttong enough to ride your front wheel on a rolling stoppie!!!
Campi pads won't do that!

Excellent pads, I've only used them in dry conditions. They have excellent stopping power. The durability of these pads is also excellent. This my 2nd set.

I've been cycling since the 80s so it was a novelty to find that I could just replace brake friction surfaces on my Litespeed. Everything used to be vulcanized together. In any case Shimano hasn't changed the shape of the pads in a while so they should fit your application too.

Original shimano parts at a great price.

While these lasted they were great, but they wore out quick. I was using them on aluminum rims with a ceramic coating - these typically wear out pads quickly. It only took a couple weeks for these to be unusable though.

These shoes came standard with the newest 9000 DuraAce brake calipers. Between the 9000 levers, calipers and pads, the braking is amazing, both in terms of modulation, stopping power and leverageforce needed to stop quickly. These pads are backwards compatible with many Shimano brakes (including my older 7700 DuraAce calipers) so I installed them on a different bike that has all 7700 components. The stopping grip is improved but still not nearly as good overall as with the DA 9000 leverscalipersshoes. Also, the previous DuraAce pads seemed to melt in wet weather and leave a black residue all over everything, these BR-9000 pads do not, and they seem much more wear resistant and durable as well.

Needed a to replace brake pads on the cross bike and the price was right. Put them on without any problems and they stop the bike, so all good.
