When time is of the essence.
The Zipp 808 is the big gun of deep-section carbon wheels. If you're planning on making short work of a time trial or being off the front of the race all day, then the 808 is your weapon of choice. This 808 Firecrest Carbon Clincher Wheelset features an upgraded 77 / 177 hubset that offers better bearing protection and durability all while needing less upkeep. The 77 / 177 spin freely without requiring a preload adjustment as they're already precision-set from the factory, and 17 mm axles provide superior strength. Redesigned hub flanges optimize the spoke geometry of the Sapim® CX-Sprint spokes for torsional and lateral stiffness, and the hubs clamp in place with updated ergonomic quick-release skewers that have a more streamlined shape that sits in line with your bike frame.
At the outer edge of this upgraded design, you'll find Zipp's 82 mm-deep, 27.5 mm-wide 808 Firecrest provides you with exceptionally well-behaved riding characteristics that don't seem like they should be possible at this depth. However, through Zipp's ardent research and development using computational fluid dynamics, wind tunnel, and field testing, the 808s not only cut through the wind like a saber, but they remain surprisingly stable in the crosswinds and notably nimble up the climbs.
Spoke count is 24 rear / 18 front. Claimed weight is 1885 g. XD driver compatible (sold separately). Quick-release skewers, Tangente Platinum Pro Evo brake pads, Zipp Integrated Valve Extenders with valve-core wrench, and rim tape are included.
