A proven winner.

The Vredestein Fortezza Tricomp continues to impress competitive and recreational riders alike with its blend of speed, traction and durability. The TriComp tread places a longer wearing compound in the center with low rolling resistance, while a softer compound is used in the shoulder for predictable handling in corners. Vredestein's Curve Control System® increases cornering traction in wet conditions, and the Sportex Protection Layer® keeps out sharp objects without adding too much weight.

The Fortezza Tricomp is available in 700c x 23mm or 25mm sizes (23-622 or 25-622 ISO). Actual weight: 231 grams (700c x 23mm). Recommended inflation pressure: 115-145 PSI.

Excellent All Around Tires
rating
by Eric Dille
Houston,

These are great tires! They have great traction and durability. I am a heavier ride (190) and these tires wear much better than other brands I have ridden. Theyre great!

I've used all the top end clincher road tires from the major brands. They each have slightly different strengths, but for overall performance and flat resistance, they're all in the same ballpark. The Tricomps are not quite as supple riding as some of the others but are fast with great traction and good flat protection. Since they are often less expensive than the other high end tires, I've used them a fair amount over the years. If you're looking for a while performance tire for a good price, I'd highly recommend these.

This is a fast tire with very steady cornering. I have about ridden about 1500 miles so far with no flats and minimal signs of wear. I have been using this tire over the years and has always been happy with the results.

Not Worth It

Lulled into buying another pair of these as I felt the price was too good to pass up. Not worth the hassle of flat repairs after only a few hundred miles. Casing is very puncture prone. Better off spending a few more bucks and getting something that will give you better service!

I put a pair of these in 25c on my road race bike that I mostly just use for faster club rides. I've used them for rides up to a century and they're smooth rolling with ok traction. I wasn't impressed with their performance on wet pavement. Great flat protection in mixed city riding, road, urban trails, highway. Vredestein recommends high pressures in their tires, and this one's minimum pressure is the max pressure of my carbon wheel. At that pressure, 8 bars, it still rolls without too much resistance and also smooths out some road chatter.

Closet thing to a tubular tire

I've ridden many a tire, both on the racing circuit and recreational trips around town, and the Vredestein Fortezza Tricomp tire is 2nd to none when it comes to performance, cornering, ease of installation and durability. There may be faster tires out there, but you will be hard pressed to find a tire that feels like a tubular, yet with some of the advantages of a premium clincher tire. Although the Fortezza Comp has been replaced with other tires in the Vredestein lineup, you can still find the Tricomp, usually at a discounted price.

Just rode a century with them yesterday. I was pleasant surprised with how nicely they roll. They corner well, too. I have not yet ridden them in wet conditions, but I expect they'll do fine.

Color wall separated from black very quickly.
rating
by Bret Orsag

These tires felt nice in the early miles but halfway through their expected life span the red color sidewalls started cracking and separating from the black of the tires all the way around horribly. I can't ride these anymore for fear of having a complete blowout on one or both while being 50 miles from home and breeding to hitch a ride home. Terrible purchase.

Soft tire, Easy to mount, Good rolling resistance, Although there is a minimum tire inflation of 100psi on the sidewall of the tire? I am a 170 pd rider and using 700x25c tire! Pretty comfortable 100psi!!

Like New After 4000 mi on Fixed Gear Bike
rating

PRO I purchased a pair of these almost 4 years ago, and mounted them on a fixed gear bike, on wheels I hand-built myself. I've put approximately 4000 miles on them. The rear gets a lot abuse on a fixed gear bike and both tires are still in fairly good shape. I inspect them after each ride and remove any embedded sharp objects, and have not had any flats. Although they are rated up to 145 psi, I inflate them to 125 psi. I don't brake much, and the wheels have stayed true.

CON When cornering, they are not as stable and don't grab the pavement as well as other brands I have used (which ride like sew-up tires), but those only last 800-1000 miles and they're more expensive.

Great ride after all these years

I've been riding Fortezza TriComps for a couple decades it seems. At times I venture off and try other brands but I keep coming back because I've always loved the round profile and the cornering and they've always been pretty rugged. While I raced on them for a few years in my relative youth, I now I pretty much race Strava. No matter, I love the Vredesteins!
