Walk hard, clip-in easy.

Designed for the serious enthusiast or first time clipless user, the Speedplay Ultra Light Action Pedal System features an advanced hybrid pedal technology that combines the most user-friendly characteristics found in Speedplay's popular X and Zero road pedals. Combining the ease-of-entry of the Speedplay X system, with the robust spring design and the enhanced durability of the Zero pedal system. The Ultra Light gets its name from its unique low-force, high-security latch mechanism, providing the easiest, most intuitive entry and release functions to date.

Pairing these revolutionary new pedals with their walkable cleats, Speedplay's new cleat design sets a new standard for user-friendly functionality. Featuring an integrated rubberized cover that stays on the cleat during the ride, the cover both offers improved traction and improved durability while walking.

The Speedplay Ultra Light Action Pedal features a stainless steel spindle. Also available in a more economical option, with chrome-moly spindles.

Features:

  • Combining technologies from Speedplay's other pedal systems, this is the ideal choice for serious enthusiasts and novices alike.
  • Unique low-force, high-security latch mechanism makes for super easy clipping in.
  • Stainless steel spindle.
  • Walkable cleats with integrated rubberized cover for easy walkability.
  • Claimed weight: 103g (each pedal), 138g (3-hole cleat pair).

I've used Speedplay Frogs for a few years and wanted to move to road shoes & road pedals. I considered the Speedplay Zero, but ultimately chose these because they have the lightest disengagement mechanism of all Speedplay pedals (other than Frogs, which have zero). I love these. Clicking in is straightforward and the amount of float is perfect. Disengaging doesn't require too much force - I had knee surgery a year ago and can't withstand too much twisting of my knee. The plastic covers on the walkable cleats are great. I have yet to slip on concrete, tile, etc. So glad I bought these. The technical rep at Speedplay was a huge help for me selecting these - I called him multiple times! If anyone is considering Speedplay pedals, these are great. Speedplay does not recommend these for racing only as a CYA (Cover Your A...) statement. A very strong rider who is sprinting to the finish and has noisy feet might disengage. But other than that, you won't unexpectedly pop out of these.
