Biking can certainly be a challenge in colder climates where winters consistently feature accumulations of snow and ice. There's no reason to be forced inside and off the bike though. With the Ice Spiker, Schwalbe delivers a tire that provides traction for winter riding. 304 long metal spikes maintain purchase in extreme winter conditions, while the tread provides good grip on many off road surfaces. These tires are also very durable and provide a good deal of flat protection so you won't be stuck in the snow and cold changing a flat.

Amazing - Truly Amazing!!!

Once properly seated (follow directions precisely) the studs (spikes) stay put in the tires. If you elect to NOT follow directions, you will shed some spikes.

Sheets of ICE, inches of SNOW, and slush a re just a joke to these tires. A broken fire hydrant glazed a street into a 200 meter long, 50 meter wide sheet of glass, on a 12 degree (f) day. The police barricaded-off the area so nobody drove there. I deliberately pretended to wave hello to the policeman, and passed him at the barricade. He was quite angry at me using his radio to alert another police officer at the other end of the ice. I rode 20 MPH directly across the sheet of ice, without a slip, slide or wobble. At the other end of the ice patch, I heard the second police officer radio to the first policeman, The guy is crazy. He has studded snow tires, and they seem to work. I'm letting him go so he crashes in Cheltenham Township (adjacent jurisdiction), not here.

I'm not crazy, the tires are magnificent - a real find for those adventurous folks who refuse to be shut-down from bicycling in the most gorgeous weather of the year, the DEAD of WINTER. Schwalbe - thank you! You've liberated an avid cyclist from horrible cabin fever most associate with Winter. I LOVE Schwalbe, and I LOVE my Ice Spiker Pro, 29ers.

OK Traction

These tires are okay. Id suggest going with a concave stud. The 45NRTH Nicotine is much better if it fits in your frame. Not bad though, makes winter riding possible.

Losing studs
by Anonymous
Casual Cyclist

Put these tubeless on the stock wheel set of my 2019 Scott Genius 930. Rode 10 miles on the road today to start the break-in, never went faster than 20 mph, mainly 8-12mph, lost 2 studs in the rear and one in the front. Bummer. Already ordered the tool and replacement studs, because it looks like I will be needing more.
