For gritty training days.
Depending on where you live, pre-season training means some days are going to bring in nasty weather, and for those, it's convenient to have a pure and simple training wheelset that you don't have to baby around in the wet. Mavic's Aksium Clincher Wheelset uses tried and true technologies for an affordable and reliable wheelset that you can still turn over with offseason legs. The double-wall alloy rims feature machined braking surfaces for better and more consistent friction, and the area around the spoke holes has been hardened so the rims are stronger where the stresses are highest. The Mavic Aksium Wheelset is spec'd with a 17 mm inner rim width to better fit burlier training tires anywhere from 25 mm to 32 mm wide, and bladed steel spokes are laced to brass nipples for reliability over the rough stuff. High-quality, sealed cartridge bearings inside alloy hub bodies with steel axles mean there's nothing fancy here to get trashed out in the sludge.
Quick release skewers and rim tape are included. Claimed weight is 1880 g. Shimano/SRAM 9/10/11 speed compatible.
