After a rough stretch with several flats including a double flat on one ride, I needed a serious rubber upgrade. I spent time looking for a tire with a good rating for puncture resistance.

I have run-up 250 plus miles on three primary surfaces - concrete, chip seal & asphalt. So far I have a new favorite. No flats, no pressure issues (running from 105 to 110 psi), with no flats. The rubber just feels solid through the cracks and rough sections of the surfaces. On the asphalt you can flat out roll. I have hit 45 mph on asphalt downhill around a good curve and they just hug the road.

At this point I can wash them up and they still look brand new. I like the black and red combo as it matches the bike color. The coloring is not quite uniform so if you watch the front tire it looks like the wheel is out-of-round, but when I put it on the trying stand it's good. The goal is 100 miles a week - trek on!

Used mainly on paved bike trails wsome neighborhood rides thrown in. Great Ridding-very smooth. Solid grip in 20 mph S-curves. Rolls Fast. Handles driving rain easily(Cent FL). Durable, Ft tire has 2,800 miles on it and still has plenty of tread. Rear about 1,600 and also has plenty of life left. Have picked up small pieces of glass and thorns-No Flats. Using 700x28. Front PSI 72-75, Rear PSI 88-90.WT-rider plus loaded bike200lbs. Much faster and better ridding then Gatorskins-very comparable to Grandprix 4000. Just picked up a spare set because they are going away. Superb all round tire. Bike set-up, Felt Verza Fit 2.

Sweet Spot Tire

Vittoria Rubino Pro III sits right at the sweet spot for high mileage non-competitive riders. They are an excellent balance of light weight, low rolling resistance, flat protection, long tread life, good traction, and low cost when bought on sale. Also, they are one of the few performancedurability tires available in 28mm, which IMO perfectly balances efficiency and comfort for long rides on sometimes rough country roads.

Unlike some other tires, the Rubinos can be mountedremoved without tools, at least on the Easton & Boyd wheels I use - a characteristic that is seriously appreciated during rare flat & tire replacement times. I get about 2000 miles per rear tire, and at least 4000 for each front. Maybe 6000. I replace when the first bit of belt peeks through.

It may help to know my profile. I ride a custom steel bike that was built to take up to 28mm tires because quiet country roads around here are rough. 3000 - 4000 miles per year. Ride several mountainous century events each year. Rolling roads with some major climbs. All weather conditions.

Nice Ride but flat prone

Love the comfy posh ride, grippy in corners, but flat prone. 4 flats in first 3 months. I was running at 120 psi. That's more flats than I had with other tires in two years.

Have used the Rubino Pro II and III, and have been pleased with the overall feel and ride quality.185 lb rider, 150 miles a week, country roads and highways. Occasional flats only, as with other tires. But then at a certain point, patches of the tread simply separate from the underlying beltbody. This has occurred on 4 out of six tires, usually in under 1000miles. One was weak under the separating tread, and the tube blew through the body in a large bubble before exploding.Going back to Conti.

I ride with Randonneurs. Put 3000 miles on a pair of these (the 700x28c ones) without a single flat. Expect to get many more miles.

I couldn't be happier with the performance of these tires they are great on dry roads along with the most slippery wet roads of Southwest Florida. I am a Clydesdale at 6'4, 224 pounds these tires last me on the rear at least 1500 miles if not more. These are great tires with cool colors at a super retail.

I'm using these in a 25c size and just cannot believe what an improved ride quality I'm experiencing relative to the Conti Grand Prix and Vredestein Fortezza Tricomp tires I used previously. I did mangle one of them by hitting a large, sharp rock while bombing down a hill at about 35 mph (never saw it coming - tore a 2 gash in the sidewall), but it was the sort of jolting impact that threw my chain off and I doubt that any tire would have held up well. I ordered a replacement, and the tires are since holding up well, with no obvious wear after about 1,000 total miles of riding, maybe 100 of which were on pretty nasty gravel roads.

I bought a set of the black V. Rubino Pro IIIs in 25C for my Kona Road Bike to replace a set of exactly the same tires. The old set had approximately 1500 miles on them. I rode on the old set a bit longer then I should. I started getting goat head flats as the tires reached the point of being worn (thinning). Anyways the Pro IIIs are excellent training tires. They are easy to install and are fast for a training tire and grip well on the road. I ride on asphalt/road. My new set has close to 300 miles on them and no flats or problems to report. Just a solid and quality tire.

I have ridden the same Rubino Pros for 3 years without a flat. Many of my miles are in Colorado where the paved roads are often intersected by gravelcrushed rock roads. This results in unavoidably riding through sharp stones. The tires have numerous cuts but still no punctures.

Not the lightest but a great training tire.

Great tire for the price. More supple than OEM-fitted tires, great grip in every condition, great durability, and never suffered a puncture with them after many sets. Hard to imagine a better all-around tire for a reasonable price!

splits in side wall where red meets black in redblack colored tire and jumped the rim during inflation on two new tubes

I had two 23c tires, redblack, for two years. Not a lot of miles on tires, never stored flat (on purpose), half house, half garage kept. The side walls have begun cracking and the red colored material is separating from the under-material. I had a flat when I noticed this. The tire jumped the rim and the tube exploded two times at 120psi, when I tried to install two new tubes. The holes were in the same place on both tubes, showing that the bead failure occurred at the same place both times, thus a defect in the tire bead, side wall, something.

I have used Vittoria Rubino Pro II and III tires exclusively. They ride smooth and fast and in approximately 12000 miles of riding (of course, not on one set)I have had two flats. I combine these tires with Vredestein Butyl Race tubes and that combo has proven to be very durable. I manage to get excellent mileage out of them and again, very rarely flat. They grip and corner fine (caveat I don't ride in the rain often). As long as they keep making them this good, I see no need to use anything else. (Trek Madone 6 series with Rol Race wheels. Riding 6000 miles a year. Weight 185-195. Tire pressure 120 competing, 110 training rides). If I were to experiment with another tire (see no need to as of yet)it would be with the Vredestein Fortezza Tricomps or the Conti 4000s.
