I'm a wussy when it comes to the cold but I still ride. The coldest temps I've riden in with these shoes has been the high teens and with one pair of wool socks I've been fine!

Nice fit, Warm and worth every penny. Warm Comfortable feet make every ride more enjoyable!

Great fitting shoe. Room in the toe box if you want to wear two pairs of socks, thick socks or add some toe warmers. Toasty warm as well. What is nice is the insulation isn't too much that your feet sweat. Just layer appropriately and the range for me is up to 50 degrees and down to 25 degrees for about 1.5-2 hrs.

I needed something to keep my feet warm when it is below 20 degrees. If I wear a thin wool, with a thick acrylic sock and these shoes, my toes are still toasty after an hour off road in the saddle. Have worn 3 x now when the temps have been between 15 and 18. These shoes fit the bill. I did go one size up to make room for socks. Works perfectly and allows my toes a little wiggle room which helps circulation.

Excellent cold weather protection, mediocre rain protection

I live in a city where it rains more than I care to admit (Seattle looks dry in comparison). I bought this shoe hoping that it would take over from my combination of shoe covers and regular shoes. In cold conditions (close to freezing and even below freezing) these shoes are amazing. They keep the wind and cold out. Even in Canada. In wet conditions things get a little sketchy. If your idea of 'rain' is a light drizzle or half-an-hour of moderate to heavy stuff, then these could be your ticket. If you live in the Pacific Northwest, you may want to stick to your shoe covers. That being said, this is now my go-to shoe for commuting and even long rides because it performs better and looks cooler than my bulky shoe covers. I bring a change of socks if I anticipate a deluge.

Best cold/Wet weather riding shoes

Impenetrable. Comfortable. Warm. I am a NYC bike messenger and street racer. I ride in the cold, snow, and rain, these shoes offer the BEST protection from the elements and they work great with my Time Atac mountain pedals. I have never loved a shoe more than this one! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Works even better with Seal Skin Socks and a good over shoe to protect the shoe from road dirt and gunk.

Simply the best shoes for winter weather riding that I have ever worn.

The shoes are perfect for cold, wet rides and are superior to shoe covers. They have not made my feet too warm and I can wear my regular cycling socks unless it drops below 25 degrees. Only thing that would be nice to see is a ratchet buckle.

I live in Wisconsin, it gets cold here. I love to ride my road bike in winter but I always had to choose between some clip system that didn't perform, or cold feet (that didn't perform). The shoes work just as good as my summer shoes and keep me warm and dry. They have an odd system with an elastic strap that wrap around your ancle and instep that can be tricky to put on, but work great and don't feal bulky. There is no more reason not to get out and play in the snow.

I was so tired of putting on shoe covers and still getting my feet wet. Commuting all year in Seattle weather is a challenge staying warm and dry. I where these shoes and don't have to avoid any puddles on the way to work. My feet stay dry and warm. I did order these larger than my normal size because they run small.

These are great for keeping your feet warm, okay for water protection.

I live in the Pacific NW, where it rains a lot. For mtn biking I haven't had an issues with my feet getting wet. My socks have gotten wet with commuting a couple times where it is raining pretty good and there were decent amounts of water on the road, I ride almost everyday to work. 10 fold better than my commuter shoes, but not as good as I was hoping with water protection. Bought them because my commuter, mtn bike and road shoes are shimano so I knew they would fit well. Still happy with them for the price.

Great shoes for winters rides from 20 - 40 degrees. Purchased from western bike works one size up from summer riding shoes. Plenty of room for wool socks and toe warmers if needed. Little skeptical about full Velcro closure. But after a few rides my fears were put to rest. Very snug.

these cats work extremely well, although i've only had them for a few months and the Portland rains have only just started. i've only used them for commuting so far.

for the most part, they are comfortable, although the elastic band inside the shoe can get tangled and annoying, so i must use my chubby fingers to align the strap.

if the top strap isnt tight enough, water may sneak in, but thats a factor of the owner and not the maker, so that is ok. otherwise, my feet are now the driest part of my body after a ride in the rain.

Versatile Shoe

Great in in between weather (over 25 and under 45) when the ground is wet or there's light rain. Not waterproof, don't dry very quickly once soaked through, but 5 hours in misty rain and they'll be ready to go tomorrow. Minutes one star for the top being a bit fragile (but only tearing after years of use, and still usable after).

Keep my feet warm and dry in Portland winter weather. No need for booties anymore (they didnt work anyway). Will use them off-roading in the winter soon and I suspect they will work just as well.

I haven't got out in the wet yet but these are the ticket for the cold. 2-3 hours at 10 degrees F type of thing. I kept having issues with cold feet on night rides and these have worked better than the wool socks plastic bags that I had been using. I think they would keep your feet dryer in wet conditions but not completely dry but I haven't tested that yet

I will never try a different shoe for year round commuting.

I am a 2.5k miles/yr commuter in Oregon. I no longer arrive to work with frozen toes from near freezing rides in the wet, mud or flooded bike paths. They are comfortable and good for walking. I once forgot to pack my regular shoes and ended up spending the entire work day wearing these shoes on a concrete factory floor. I also had a pair of the earlier earlier MW-80's and put 6,000 miles on them, 3 winters and two summers. The shoes held up great! (if it wasn't for the odor, wife made me get new ones), and these MW 81's are just as nice if not even better...

Buy This Shoe at least 2 Sizes Larger Then Your Usual Size

I wore a size 45 Shimano shoe for years. In regular shoes I wear a size 10.5 to 11. So I bought the size 47 and found the toe box narrow and tight with my toes with no space at the front of the shoe with a marino wool sock.

So I sent back the 47 and now have a 48. I presently breaking them in . The last of this shoe is definitely small or tight.

When I first tried them I was afraid I'd gotten a size too small. Once I got my feet in them I was pleasantly surprised that I had wiggle room for my toes. The deal is that the elastic on the top of the shoe is quite strong, so to get your foot in easily one must open the she straps completely, grasp the elastic with one hand while pulling the shoe on with the provided loop on the back, maybe even pushing down some, and your foot will slide right in.

The reason I bought these was the recommendation of my local bike store friend. I have been going through pull-on shoe covers which work on the top, but woe to you if you step in a puddle, plus they wear out with a little walking which I must do to get over some steep places - only good for a year or less. These shoes are swell as I can walk through puddles as stay dry. They are of excellent construction and I expect to be wearing them for years to come. I'll let you know how that goes.

We've had a frozen week and I stayed warm as toast over a couple of hours of 27f. Today it rained, and I simply tucked in my stretch pants into the top of the boot and clamped them in with the strong elastic ankle strap. By overlapping my rain pants over the top of the boots I stayed completely dry. Since I hose off the bottom and sides of my shoes after a muddy ride I have been used to having water leak in during that process. Not even that caused even a drop to get inside. I sort of wish the boot came up a little higher so I could feel more secure with the overlap, but I gotta say that these boots are all I could wish for. I'm one happy winter trail rider.

My feet have stayed warm and dry in these shoes in temperatures as low as 27'F. This is a sturdy, durable shoe for year round riders. I highly recommend this shoe, it is worth the extra money and is far superior to shoe covers.

A great shoe for cold weather commuting

This is a great shoe for bicycle commuters that are tired of cold feet. I have used these shoes in 30'F temperatures and they worked great and I am sure they will still keep my feet warm when the temperatures drop even further. For years I have arrived at work with cold feet using shoe covers over cycling shoes and that has not been a problem with these boots. I wish I had purchased these shoes long ago as it would have resulted in much more comfortable riding.
