7,000 miles, zero flats

Purchased these tires for a cross-country tour of over 4,000 miles. When we finished, there was still a lot of life left in them, so have continued to ride. Now, at over 7,000 miles, it's time to replace them. Zero flats, on a wide variety of roads, with lots of debris. They ride a bit stiff, but it's an easy trade off for how impermeable they seem to everything I've thrown at them.

Pretty much indestructible

I've used these on a tour, expecting to get 10,000 miles out of them - they lasted through the tour (Pennsylvania to Alaska and back) and the entire following year to 30,000 miles and still have some tread left! In those 30,000 miles I've only gotten 2 flats. One was a pinch flat, I hit a pot hole at high speed and pinched the tube between the tire and the rim. The other was caused by somehow getting a staple in the sidewall of the tire. No punctures through the tread at all. Those tires got me through every type of terrain imaginable: pavement, chip-seal, gravel, dirt, mud, and even some not-too-technical singletrack mountain bike trails.

These are definitely not the lightest, fastest rolling, or must supple tire. I wouldn't use them for a race, but for a tour or commuting they are an absolute must from the standpoint of durability and longevity. I'm leaving on another tour soon and will absolutely use a new set of the same tire.

Side note: Schwalbe recommends inflating to 45-70psi, I only run them at 30psi for a much cushier ride on uneven surfaces (size 700x47). This was most likely a contributing cause to the previously mentioned pinch flat, but perhaps also a reason why I've been able to get such extremely high mileage out of them.

Probably the best tires out there for touring

Like many I've tried other brands, but they eventually, or quickly all failed on my setup.

These tires are solid - they roll smoothly, even with the quite chunky tread, and bite enough on gravel and dirt to get you through. The rubber is actually quite tough in comparison to other brands, which is probably why they don't fail, I've had others (looking at you Surly) in which the rubber just split apart, twice..... I won't be racing on these tires anytime soon, but they have taken me anywhere and through anything I want to go.

Of note, I also set these up tubeless on my Hunt Mason X rims. 25 mm tape, and Orange sealant, and these hold very well. They weren't event too difficult to mount onto the rims, although of course you need an air compressor, but they held once they were on.

Received 700x47 are really 42mm

Was going to upgrade my tires for a transamerica trip this upcoming spring. Tires look awesome for the flat proof ride of 4500 mi trip-great tread and thick side walls-not a lite tire! On line order said they were 700x47, but after mounting on my WTB rims that are 36-62mm rims-they came out to be 42mm with tubes inside. Mis advertised product-Im not the only one to find this to be true on a review!

Nothing better for year-round commuters

I'm a year round commuter in a four season climate. Schwalbe marathons are the best tires for bike commuters and bike touring. Great traction, excellent durability, and second-to-none flat prevention. They are the ultimate tire and you won't regret buying them.

Outstanding Tire

This tire replaces my rear Schwalbe Marathon e tire which wore very unevenly after about 2000 miles. I have read that these Plus Tour tires will last much longer than that, but more importantly to me they are very puncture resistant. Portions of my regular ride are along a 4 lane industrial road with all kinds of broken glass and other debris along the side of the road and it is more or less impossible to avoid all of these hazards. Thankfully I have never had a puncture. Even though my old front tire had a lot of tread left, I bought two of these Plus Tour varieties and will rotate them front to back to try to even out the wear and have two solid tires.

It's a city/touring workhorse!

I got one of these in 2021 for the rear wheel of my Crosscheck, and wow, what a tire! I use this bike as part of a rotation, so about a quarter of the year, for 12-20 mile daily rides to/from work, for errands, and for recreational rides around the city. It is a heavy tire, but it rolls and grabs well. Like other reviewers, I was attracted to its durability. We're about 1200 miles in, and the tire looks pretty much new still. This is a tire for anyone who is okay adding a little weight and sacrificing a little speed for some peace-of-mind. And I'm not sure if the speed sacrifice is even that great. I have opened it up quite a few times, and you can still fly with these on your ride.

I've gone through a number of tire brands before the Schwaibe Marathon. I'm a back road junkie and these tires will ditch dive, and roll over anything, even pea gravel (carefully). The first 500 miles have been great!

Pretty much no flats. E50 rated so no blowouts going down mountains. Large carrying capacity for touring. Good grip on pavement and good enough for a little bit of smooth single track to get you to a campsite. Medium rolling resistance.

I commute and feel SO much more secure since replacing the tubeless gravel tires with these bad boys. Put them on and forget 'em (which is a good thing).

I bought four of these tires. Two for my bike and two for my wife's bike. The main reason for purchasing them was to eliminate getting flats like our original tires. We ride 10.5 miles everyday as long as the temperature is above 40 degrees. The tires were very easy to mount and required no tools at all. The ride is very smooth as compared to our old tires. We like the amount of tread on the tires as we ride on blacktop trails when they are wet. They do seem to have a little more rolling resistance, though. So far we have had no flats and I don't aniticipate getting any. This is a great tire and I would recommend buying them.

I wanted durability and flat protection in a 40 mm tire. Carrying heavy loads was also a requirement. These tires met all my needs.

The rolling resistance is outstandingly good. I was very pleasantly surprised. 622-40 at 75 psi with a load was fast. Just as fast as my Pasela 622-38.

They do not feel any heavier than any other tire I've had on this bike. In the hand, yes they feel heavier. On the bike, Naw.

They are not hard to mount.

I must have incredibly strong hands compared to these other folks. Maybe it's all the hair on my palms, but I got em on no problem.

This is not a race or fast tire but a great heavy-duty e-bike tire. The last thing I want to do is work on my wife's bike while out on a ride.

These are the tires you buy if you never want a flat. I'm not saying that you absolutely can't get a flat but these tires are the closest thing to flat proof. I will note that the width measurement isn't exact--the 47 was more like 43 (and that's being optimistic.). Great quality and great traction.

Perfect combination tire for what I do, which is road touring, gravel, and in-city commuting. If they have any drawback at all it might be their weight.

Just ordered a spare set of these for emergencies, but after using the original sad for the last six months I have yet to have a flat! Carried an extra tire two weeks ago on my Key Largo to Key West trip and no issues despite much road trash/glass.

Roll over anything, ride anywhere. Apparently this the the tire you buy if you want to ride across a continent. Not light, but will get you in shape. I've taken it on both rocky single track in Montana and over McKenzie Pass, and the tire just looked at me like "is that all you got?." Recommended for those who really, really don't want to get a flat.
