Excellent tractionride - perfect for urban unicycle riding

Very good traction, excellent in rain, overall, the best tire that I have so far used for road unicycle riding. Really smooth riding and great for crabbinghopping updown stair steps. Gives greater rolling size too (so faster). Even though it needs 26X2.5 tubes, definitely a keeper.

These tires rock! I commute about 30-40 miles per day and no flats since I have owned them for 2 months now, only pumped them up twice. They're a little heavy, but who cares? I dont race!

Best urban smoothie I've ever ridden.

The Hookworm is the best urban smoothie I've ever ridden-and that covers a lot. Extremely cool looking, too, real head-turners. It's also the stickiest tire around, and I don't see how they could ever fall down in any turn you'd dare. Also if you use the right tube-one for a 2.5 tire-you'll NEVER have a flat. Great tire in every way. BUY EM'.

I converted my full-suspension Klein Mantra Pro into an urban assult, climbing hypermoto style of bike. I removed my Fox suspension fork for a ridgid carbon fiber fork. I ride mostly on an Air Force base in central California. I ride up remote radar sites with lots and lots of elevation. For the style and type of paved remote rodes that I ride on, I have not found a more durable, sticky and dependible tire. I mount the 2.5s on Velocity rims with Chris King hubs.

How will this tire compare with 26"x3" kenda tire. I have some on my whizzer Motor bicycle which I have problems keeping the tube from being let under the bead and blowing out the tube! Tell me about the cross-section of this tire. blanyoncenturytel.net

Unequalled cornering adhesion and exceptional puncture resistance

Yes, they're heavy tires. Look at how big they are, and how much rubber there is.

What makes Maxxis Hookworm tires so exceptional is that they are made with a downhill casing, and a slick tread that wraps way around the sides. As far as 26-inch street tires go, there is nothing else out there that will allow you to go around corners as fast, at such radical lean angles, with so much confidence.

As far as punctures go, I ride in Arizona where there a lot of thorns. I use Slime tubes and have ridden these tires for roughly 3,000 miles, and have never had a puncture.

I did a lot of searching for a decent rugged city tire. Read up on these and everybody lauded them. Supposed to be indestructible, great volume for curbs and stairs. They do have great volume, but the cons outweigh that! 1 I went through 10 tubes in less than 6 months, these things can't handle small glass shards worth a crap! No pinch flats, but what good does that do? 2 Heavy as HECK! If you're in a hilly area, get ready to pop a vein! 3 Do not fit in standard bus racks, tires are too wide. 4 Price. You can get better puncture resistance, weight, and versatility for the same, or lower price.

I commute, shop, and have fun on my bike. It's not fun to sweat your buttocks off replacing a tube. Might be a good tire for flat areas that actually clean the streets, not in this town!

Dan; I've used this tire a few times for urban riding the traction and smooth ride make this a awesome tire. The weight was my biggest gripe but the solid feel it gives after a few stair drops makes you forget about it. I didn't have any puncture related issues but it is a wide tire so watch out for the sharp stuff. This is a purpose built tire and no one else makes anything like it.
