This is a great helmet for the hot, humid summer days we experience here in SE Virginia. It has excellent ventilation, it's light and the large size fits my 59cm head quite nicely. However, after three outings I've noticed an odd quirk - a strange, whistling or humming sound. I'm not sure what to call it. A wind tunnel effect? There is something about the configuration of the lower side openings that channels the moving air in such a way as to produce a sometimes annoying whistling sound. At other times it's a low moan, like a cold wind in the winter time on the beach. I haven't been able to tune it out yet. Perhaps over time I'll be able to, but for now it's a bit of a bother.

Exclusively road riding, it's warm here and my neck is ruined so having a super light helmet that's also very airy is great. Saving the 40 grams from my last helmet is definitely noticeable. Plus the on-sale price was unbelievable! I really like it!

I have been a big fan of Giro helmets over the years. I have three of these Aeon helmets and they are very light and well ventilated. Giro sizes are consistent and seem to always fit well. In addition, I had a recent crash that resulted in a shoulder fracture and a bump on my head. The helmet held up well and no injury to my head. Thank you Giro. Highly recommended.

Light, well ventilated and comfortable, the look is too wide, a little mushroom-like. The cost is average for a helmet this light, good deal when on discount. Helmets are generally overpriced anyways.

I am replacing an Atmos helmet that I have had for years. The Atmos was a great helmet, but I recently broke it against a tree. It did its job very well. I was looking at Lazer helmets, but after seeing how the Giro held up and saved my head, I decided to stay with the same brand again.
I have heard some of the Roc Loc's have broken and they don't look as stout as my older series adjuster, but overall the fit and finish is great. I'll see how the adjuster holds up. So far I've used the helmet 18-20 times and have not had any issues. It has been plenty cold here this winter, and I can tell the ventilation of this helmet is going to rock this summer.

I got the highlight yellow in large. I have a fairly large head and not all helmet brands will fit me. This one has enough room for a winter cap. Comfort and visibility are great. Ventilation seems good, but I haven't had any hot days to put it to the test. The adjustment dial is easy to use even with heavy winter gloves on. I got mine during a sale and it was much cheaper than competitors helmets, so it was an easy choice.

This helmet looks great; keeps you cool in warm weather, and adjusts really easily.

This is my second Aeon helmet. Nothing wrong with the first one. I actually love it this got another one to match my other kits.
It is super lightweight, fits me well and straps like a charm. I always forget I am wearing one.
It looks great too. Not the love it hate it helmet. Simply amazing.

Lightweight, best helmet I have ever owned.

Having owned many Giro helmets, I bought this without much hesitation mostly because it was so much lighter than the Atmos (which I also own). This is a very comfortable helmet and secures with one-hand. Compared to other helmets I have and currently own including the Atmos and a Specialized S-Works, the Aeon vents are smaller and don't allow the same volume of fresh air flow, in my opinion. If I lived in Seattle or Portland, this wouldn't be an issue, but in Texas last weekend, it was about 99 degrees in the shade and this helmet made me feel every degree.
It is still a great helmet, but the Specialized S-Works is as light and better ventilated - but more expensive and hard to find. I will wear my Aeon when it cools off!

Extremely light, good fit, beyond excellent helmet!

This helmet is super light, very comfortable and flows more air than any I've owned in the past.
Fit on this seems to be better than older GIRO models as I've always had a Bell helmet shaped head.
The new retension system used is easy to use and keeps it in place without being uncomfortable.
Great helmet

Will always buy Giro helmets. This was a replacement for one I crashed in. There is a spot in the back for a light to be secured (zip-tie). I got the bright orange helmet. Great for visibility.
The locking system is great, fit is perfect.

The latest retention/adjustment apparatus is a nice upgrade. The new straps are smoother against the skin. The ventilation is definitely a noticeable improvement with this design. Take it from someone who has broken a Giro helmet in 5 places while doing a header at 22mph...buy the best helmet available...save money somewhere else. This is a great helmet. And, it's available in bright orange...be seen.

I use the helmet for everyday training and some racing. It is very light, comfortable, and as advertised, you can forget you are wearing it. This is the best fitting helmet I have tried to date and at the sale price an excellent value.

I got the Aeon for primarily fitness riding in South Florida. The summers here are unrelentingly hot and muggy. Any improvement is a godsend. The helmet is very light, very comfortable and has excellent airflow. I recommend it highly.

Yes that was my reaction because I didn't feel wearing one. I bought this helmet to replace my Prolight. This one fits way better. The prolight seemed to be a bit narrower side to side, so if I need to wear some sorts of head warmer in the winter, it felt very tight. While the Aeon is about 14 grams heavier than Prolight in size M, I feel the the Aeon even lighter due to its comfortable fit. And the loc 5 retaining system is great, it creates a comfortable snug fit and can be adjusted on the ride using 2 fingers. My only concern is the durability of the loc 5 system, it's a very minimal design for light weight so I don't know if it last for the life of the helmet, but only time will tell and I hope I'm wrong on these. Highly recommended.
