I'm really impressed by how well the radar works in conjunction with my Garmin head unit (530), including showing multiple vehicles. I've found it very helpful when country roads rather than relying solely on hearing. It's also allowed me to signal to cars when it's safe to pass. I use another small light in conjunction (brighter, better battery life), so I'm also intrigued by their new 'radar only' unit.

Love this thing and its a terrific safety device. Can see when cars are approaching long before I can hear them coming. Its been very dependable and lasts for a century ride.

I had original Varia light and decided to upgrade when it had difficulty charging. While light is more vertical orientated then previous version it provides good visibility the original varia did not.

Wish I could ride with this all year. In the cooler winter weather near Chicago, this unit causes my Garmin 520 Pluss battery to die early so I have learned not to use it in the winter.

There are two problems. The ding tone in the speedometer unit is not anywhere near loud enough and if your use the unit in the winter, the Garmin speedometer battery will go dead long before the ride is over!

Love this unit. I have two of them. One. for my travel breakaway bike and one for my local rides. Great investment.

This is a great radar that can track multiple vehicles approaching from behind. It also serves as a super back light with varying flash modes. I use my Garmin Vivioactive HR watch as my head unit, but you can use just about any Garmin device to keep you informed. I cannot believe I road so long without this device.

This device gives me peace of mind to alert me when a vehicle is approaching, whether it's a motorcycle or a cartruck. I was wondering if there is a way to program an audible sound to help alert as well, because you have to glance at the computer often to visually see if a vehicle is approaching.

The 2nd generation Varia has a longer battery life, and is more visible to drivers both daytime and nighttime. The Varia 2 is an excellent improvement over an already great product. I bike commute to work all year around weather permitting, and with short day light hours Nov-Feb, having the rear radar to alert me to traffic as well as provide a highly visible tail light makes this an accessory I never leave home without.

I use it on my Road and Gravel bike. It really helps given I am hard of hearing to give me early warnings of approaching cars. The Fenix 5 is also paired and it vibrates which is a great alert when I am not looking at my Edge. Also it last a really long time for 100 mile rides.

The light is much brighter than the older rectangle model making this a much better product in general. No need to run a second light now.
The radar works flawlessly and seems a bit more sensitive than the old one as well. I did like the way the old one gave you a charge level indicator at start up but that is the only flaw in the new one.

Wonderful product!!! Takes the fear out of moving from the shoulder into the road when there are hazards. Always know whats behind you.

I appreciate that there is one dot for each vehicle approaching.

Great radar. I have yet to see a false negative. Always informs me of an approaching vehicle and makes me much more aware and therefore safer.

Love that I didn't need to buy the separate unit to see the traffic. Integration with my Garmin was a snap.

I feel safer with the Garmin Varia on the back of my bike. The bright flashing red light definitely seems to provide vehicle drivers a fair warning that I am on the road.
