The best, for less.

SRAM is all about pushing the envelope of technologies they believe in, and they've shown just that with the Force 22 Hydro R Shifter and Hydraulic Disc Brake Caliper. Taking last year's Red design back to the drawing board, they now have a new master cylinder piston that has been thoroughly tested in the field, in various environmental chambers, and in the lab. The performance has been endurance tested in temperatures ranging from -4°F to 115°F to ensure you can count on the best stopping performance and modulation in any environment and in any condition.

For consistent brake feel, there's a new caliper spring in the brake itself, and the lever has a new high-capacity bladder design with improved fluid passage to better compensate for pad wear and system temperature. Designed to fit post and flat mount frames and forks, the caliper fits modern frames and forks much better. Servicing the fluid system has never been easier either with a new bleed port design at the top of the hood that's been made with a simpler interface combined with their patented Connectamajig™ coupler that allows for multiple disconnects of the brake lines before a bleed is required.

Brake feel is not the only kind of feel that's been improved, as the lever body has been shaped for lighter weight and better ergonomics, and the full-carbon shifter lever has been slimmed down for better reach adjust and handlebar clearance for cold weather days when you have bulky winter gloves on. ZeroLoss™ shifting technology means instant and precise shifts exactly when you want them for a racy shift-feel that is distinctly SRAM.

The Force model embodies all the new features and technologies of Red but swaps out the titanium hardware for stainless-steel and the carbon brake lever for an alloy one, making Force an ideal choice when you want to race your components into the ground but don't want to crash your bank account to do so.

SRAM recommends using 160 mm rotors front and rear for road use, and 140 mm for cyclocross. Sold separately.

Price is for one lever and one caliper. (A front set and rear set will be required per bike.) Claimed weight is 471g per wheel (Lever, Caliper, Hose and 160mm Centerline rotor (not included)).
