I bought these after trying the Castelli nanoflex. The Castelli was too tight in the waist despite size chart. The LG is a small also, but has a looser waist with the a drawcord & I had to snug these up a bit. I'm 29-30 waist. These also allow your knee to move without any restrictive feel or bunching of fabric, even though the lining seems to be the same throughout. I have somewhat long legs (33) & a medium might have been better, but they didn't have that size. These don't have ankle zippers & ride up about 2 inches above my ankle bone. They don't fit as tight throughout the leg as the Castelli's, but are not loose. I don't ride much below 40 F, & I think they'll be fine for that, or for colder x-country skiing.
