I actually took my bike to the wheel builder who made my custom rims to have my first set of tubeless tires mounted on my bike. Two weeks after that I picked up a nail about 25 yards from my private road after riding a 50 mile loop. It penetrated the tire and the rim, so the tire went flat. I walked the remaining distance to my house. When I got inside I tried to pump the tire up, but the hole in tape and rim made that impossible. I had to do what I most dreaded, take the tire off the rim and tape over the hole. I did that with my heart in my thoat thinking I was going to have to drive to the wheel builder and have him do the repair. Before I re-added the sealant I decided to inflate the tire first to insure all was done correctly and that the tire would hold the air. I pumped up the reservoir, attached the pump to the tire, and dropped the release lever. The tire inflated, the bead set with a series of pops that sounded like an car tire inflating in a tire shop, and the air stayed. I knew it would leak without sealant around the bead, but I waited for about an hour to be sure it could hold air, that the hole was properly covered by the added rim tape. Once I was sure, I let the air out, broke the seal and added sealant to the tire. Then I, once again, recharged the reservoir, and heard that lovely sound of the bead resealing on the rim. I haven't been out since then, so the bike has sat on my workstand for three days. There was the normal amount of air loss that one expects with tubeless tires, but nothing beyond that. My confidence in being able to maintain my tires myself from now on has been built. The pump is amazing. Worth every penny. It was easy, pumping the reservoir up to 130 PSI was also easy. I love this pump and consider it an absolute essential if you run tubeless tires. I plan to buy one for my son.
I recently received one of these as a gift, and to be honest I thought it was not going to work well.
I was way wrong, it works amazing!
In the past I would have to remove my valve core to hope I could seat the tire with a high volume floor pump. Then once it mounted I would add sealant and reinflate.
With this, I add sealant when mounting the tire, leave valve core in and simply inflate, amazing!
If you run tubeless, this is a great tool to have in your workshop.
I set up tubeless cyclocross tires on new wheels with this pump, and it was a pleasant, easy, fun, and clean experience. The reservoir (tubless power system) makes setting the tire simple. The chuck is really nice. apart from the quality look and feel, I like that it snuggly screws on the valve. The hose is also longer than a standard pump, which I like for when the bike is in the stand. The digital pressure gauge is a nice addition as well. If you change tubeless tires at home, this is a great tool to have.
The LCD screen will use up the battery if you forget to turn it off. It doesn't auto turn off after hours. The way it works is no intuitive. The pressure sensor doesn't seem to be very accurate I have to double-check with another pressure sensor
I grew tired of trying to pump up tubeless tires with a regular pump so I did some research and ended up going with this Lezyne floor pump. I love the digital gauge that allows me to see exactly how much air I am putting into the tire. I've found that if I want 50psi in the tire then I fill the floor pump chamber with double the amount of air I need... so I need 50psi, I fill the chamber to 100psi. Once you release the air in the chamber to your tire it fills very quickly, and you get to hear those lovely popping sounds that freak you out and comfort you all at the same time. Great pump, Solid construction, works exactly as needed.
What I like it's sturdy. The air inflates into the tire almost silently when in standard pump mode which almost made me believe it wasn't working, but it was. The digital readout is clear and accurate. The hose is long and it has plenty of distance so you're not crammed up against the wheel. I pump the chamber up to 120 lbs and it delivers 60psi in a whoosh into my 700-25m tires. This is flawless performance. I had no trouble at all operating the lever to release the compression chamber. No complaints.
What I don't like it's big, I mean big for a pump. Probably all these tubeless tire inflators are, I don't know. And it's expensive. But all in all, if it works every time, which this promises to do, it's a sound investment. I have other Lezyine products which work flawlessly, which is why I went with this one over a Topeak or the equivalent.
