Saddles are a subjective and personal choice but Aliantes have always worked for me and I appreciate the cut-out, which is why I opted for the Tempo R3. Relatively light and so far comfortable on medium-length rides.
I didnt want to like this saddle, but I was out of time. I had spent almost one year anticipating delivery of my spare-no-expense dream custom road build and wanted the fanciest, latest-tech, 3D-printed saddle available. Unfortunately, I tested the 3D saddle on another bike and found it so painful for my 64 215 lbs that after just 25mi I couldnt sit normally in a chair for three days. So as the big day arrived to take home my dream rig, my LBS mounted up this cheap placeholder PRO saddle, and now I couldnt be happier. Sure, the PRO is kinda strange to look at, with that plasticity shell and those cross struts. But after 2100mi on my dream machine, Im reluctant to switch it. Yes, its not befitting of my otherwise full DuraAce carbon-everything rig, and I have fancier saddles on other bikes, yet I cannot argue with comfort and performance. And given that dialing in saddle position always takes me some time, Im planning to keep this saddle for many more miles.
Saddles are obviously a personal thing. That said, this one is super lightweight and was very comfortable from the first ride. I upgraded from an older Selle Italia San Marco saddle and I was pleasantly surprised with how comfortable this one was. My sit bones measure about 95mm and I went with the narrow of the two options. Fits great and feels really good. I have about 500 miles on it now and no complaints.
I put my new Brooks saddle on my Carbon hardtail Niner which I used to ride the Via Francigena last year, 2022, from Canterbury England to Rome. Next year, 2024 my fiancee and I will start the European Divide Trail. The Brooks will get me to the tip of Portugal. I love the history of the Brooks company and it gets better every ride!
