When things go wrong with your transmission it's easy to blame the components that YOU have manipulated.
A bicycle is no different than a performance car.
Tuning is critical. Micro adjustments are a fact of life, and a piss poor chain line is a recipe for early chain and casset failure.
I only use original manufacturer parts because I understand that they are engineered to work together in harmony when properly installed.
Semper Fi Shimano, you are the cat's meow!

Great chain

Quick, smooth shifting, durable upgrade to 105. This is my standard chain now.

Definitely shifts well, and is lighter than the 105 version. But it seems to wear as fast or faster than the 105, and definitely costs more. Not sure it's worth the extra bucks and weight savings.

It's a chain. It does chain stuff - it is reliable, sturdy and durable. These come with a master link aka quick link aka missing link. I use these chains on my Ultegra Di2 11-speed setups. Keep the chains clean and serviced, and they'll last quite a while. I can run about 4,000 miles on one until I am due for a replacement, and I remove them and clean them in an ultrasonic parts cleaner about every 1,500 miles. I clean and re-lubricate them about every 150 miles, or when I get them visibly dirty - whichever comes first.

Had no issues with this chain, lasted longer than the dura ace model.

It's a genuine Shimano chain. No worries about short chain life or breakage like when purchasing from unrepeatable sellers.

I use this chain on one of my two 11-speed bikes

I'm a big boy (245 lbs) and usually ate at least one chain per season if not two with Ultegra 10 spd chains. After upgrading to 11 spd Ultegra and chains I now get about a year and a half to two years from the newer Shimano 11 spd chains. Articles suggest using these chains for 10 spd drivetrains as well because of their superior construction, materials, and longevity.

It is the only option on Ultegra and Durace according to Shimano. They last 1500-2000 miles and at $40-$50, they are not cheap. Great chain but I wish there were more options.

Smooth shifting, long lasting chain at a good price. I prefer not to mix brands on my drive train - Shimano cassette, crank and chain on my Di2 road bike. Likewise, I use only Sram chain, crank and cassette on my mountain bike. Compatibility insures everything works as it was engineered

Wish that this had come with a quick link like the SRAM does, but this does the job!

These are good chains at competitive prices. Life span depends On the rider , bike and hills.
If you have both 10 and 11 speed bikes then these chains work for both.

Functional long life chain

This chain is exactly what I expected. Seems fine, and will go on my bike, when the old one is worn to the point of needing replacement. I'm sure it will work as advertised
