Pros Warm and mostly waterproof

Cons Stitching that holds velcro in place unraveled after two uses and its too large around the ankle so though the covers are snug everywhere else the ankle can't be adjusted for a tighter fit

I'm not a hard-core commuter but I do ride on wet and even snowy days as long as I can get traction on the road. After trying and using Performance brand, Pearl Izumi, and now LG, I can attest that this is the best I've used. They are waterproof, warm, and fit snug. This is the second pair of these that I've purchased. Although my old pair were still fine up top the bottoms were getting ragged from mountain biking, and since Western had them on sale I got the brand new (II) version. For me they are good to about 10 deg. as long as I'm riding hard, and I can keep them on until the temp. get up to about 40 deg.. Even at full price, I would recommend these if you want to continue riding during the colder seasons.

It fits tightly over the shoe and ankle. It worked very well keeping my feet warm and dry on 3 hour winter rides. Velcro is very strong, this will not come lose during a ride.

I have size 42 Sidi wire 4 hole Speedplay road shoes & medium fits perfectly on these. They go on & off fine if you give them a bit of a stretch & line them up with the shoe shape as you pull them on. I haven't used them yet, it'll probably be early spring at this point with the roads being snow covered now & not fit for road biking. Late fall I was riding with just toe covers, & they weren't quite enough. I think these will be fine with ordinary socks because they come well up over the ankle & will come over the bottom of my tights. Well made, good quality, good price.

Shoe covers for winter riding

Neo Protect II shoe covers are easy to get into and remove, keeping out wind and cold while preventing hot, sweaty feet during the longest treks. Vertical velcro ankle strips keep the covers snug against the calves and the bottom cut-outs allow any size or shape of cleat to engage with pedals. These covers are dependable for multiple winter seasons of very active riding.

toasty warm

These shoe covers fit my size 41 shoe quite snugly and keep my feet so much warmer.

They don't allow sweat to escape, so there's a lot of moisture inside after a ride. If you're wearing wool socks that wick and retain heat even when wet, this isn't a problem above about 25 degrees Fahrenheit. I haven't been able to tolerate a windchill much colder than that.

I've been wearing these with my Giro Empire MTB shoes and it's an awesome combination. Warm and weather proof. The LG shoe cover goes on very easily and is very secure. Well made and a great piece of kit. Highly recommend.

I use them for mountain biking, and I have found that no matter how expensive a bootie is, it will eventually fall apart. Which is why I like these, they are relatively cheap, work about as well, and it isn't a big deal when they fall apart.

Only downside is the velcro closure doesn't allow for much adjustment, so if you have big feet and skinny ankles it will not fit tight.

Neo Protect II is definitely a warmer cover than most, but still limited to about 20 degree F and above. Great fit and very easy on and off. Primary use is mountain biking.

Good for warmth, okay for light moisture, lasts about a season

These work great for adding a bit of warmth for temps in the 20s to low 30s. They don't really keep your feet dry unless there's only a little bit of spray. For real rain, booties like the Sugoi Zap work much better. Good value for the LC price, although they start to fall apart after about a season.

So far I've used this on a few rides and they have kept my feet warm and dry. I've never been one to wear a lot of bright colors but I understand that the movement of legs and feet are the best places to have bright colors for visibility by drivers. So this year I got the bright yellow. I think they do a good job making me more visible to drivers - my riding buddies sure think so.

I MTB all winter, and chew through a pair of these each year. They do the job keeping warm feet! Sizing runs a bit small I'm an 8 men's and needed an M. The velcro quality is adequate, but the trim and stitching isn't as tough as the neoprene, so that is where they blow out first...across the sole. At-home reinforcement buys me a few more months of service. Can't beat the price, just don't expect years of service.

These have a Velcro closure rather then a zipper and are much easier to put on. I use them in temps from the high twenties to the mid forties.

These covers are cheap and great. They are not 100% water proof, but will keep you dry in light commuter spray. I had the black and foolishly hiked in them, chewing up the toes. So I got a pair of Neon yellow to help with the being seen. Sadly filhty city road spray dimmed the hot yellow pretty quick, but that's no fauly of the product.

This shoe cover fits well and is easy to put on and take off. In addition it is warm and waterproof.

My only issue is the bottom of the toe area. When I stop and put my foot down, my toe hits first and sometimes I stay on that toe causing more wear. The material on the bootie at the bottom of the toe is very thin and not durable. So now I have a pair booties that look new on top but will soon become unusable because the left one is worn out under the toe.

I actually tried wearing some toe cover over these and had some success since the toe covers had a thick rubber bottom.

In spite of all that I bought another pair because of the price and how well they worked before wearing out.

Keeps your feet warm in 40-55 deg weather
rating
by Bay Area Cyclist

I ride in Northern California, and when it gets to be in the 40s and 50s, my feet get cold!

Pros

Covers keep my feet warm at 40-55 deg weather

Keeps shoes clean in wet conditions

Seem sturdy after about a month of usage

Clean easily

I like the hi-viz color

Cons

Not breathable, so your feet will sweat and you will get home with shoes that are wet from the inside

Not that warm, so it's not like sitting with your feet by a fireplace - ) At 40 deg, they'll still be cold.

Overall I like them and am satisfeed.
