Review by ojojoGreat little light! by ojojoCompetitive RacerMinneapolisI have 4 of these lights from the 300, 650 and 800 and really like the small size good light power, decent battery time, and easy mounting system. The latest 800 has a bit of a downgraded strap that is oilyslimy so harder to attach, and there was a missing screw on mine that I am hoping to get replaced to light does not slide right off the mount as it does easily without the screw. Overall a great little light and I highly recommend it as a city light or backup to a dynamo etc. Probably not strong enough or wide enough light pattern for all night MTB rides or even dark country roads, but with a dyno and this or several Urbans, that works great.

Review by nativeriderVery bright, super convenient with the Go-Pro style mountby nativeriderCycling EnthusiastSan FranciscoI bought this light along with the K-edge Garmin combo mount. I can connect the light when I need it. The Urban 800 attaches under the mount, so my handle bars stay neat and sleek.

Review by Jim GriffinExcellent light, bought after trying the competition.by Jim GriffinCycling EnthusiastBirmingham, ALUsed mainly for night riding where a 200 foot viewing distance is needed. Beam is wide enough to cover curb to curb on two lane roads. Simple to operate with an easy mounting system and reliable control switch. I like the amber side markers too. It's easy to charge and so far it's maintained its battery life estimates. High beam is often more than I need, so I find much of my riding is in the middle position. I also own the Urban 650 on another bike. It's a great light too.

Review by AnonymousBright and compactby AnonymousExtremely bright while on high, and suitable for pre-dawn road rides even on medium to low. The beam pattern provides good illumination of the full lane of a road. Battery life has been as advertised. My one complaint is that the feel of the button used to control brightness is a bit vague, and it can be difficult to tell whether I've truly changed brightness when pushing the button wearing gloves. I'd rather the light had a memory setting, such that it would automatically be set to the last used brightness setting when powering on.

Review by AnonymousGreat Light but...by AnonymousCycling Enthusiast4 of 4 customers found this review helpful.I love this light little light but wanted a little more horsepower in my light so I returned this one and got the L&M Taz 1500. I personally wanted longer period of being at the 750-800 time than the 800 light would give you. I think the 800 is good more for road riding than commuting. The light does take a long time to charge also so you may want to look into the 800 fast charge light for the extra dough

Review by jojoLight is good, new mount not so muchby jojoCycling EnthusiastmplsI have several Urban lights 300, 550, 800 and a brand new 800. The newest one has a very slimyslippery strap making it much harder to install. At least my fingers are not able to grip the new and slimy strap (which I am sure is just a cost cutting measure from L&M I suspect). Also, my light was missing the tiny screw in the mount so slips right out of the mount if you are not careful. I guess lights are getting brighter and better, but the rest is going the opposite way.....

Review by jason.potsanderLite, Bright, Compact, Well Engineeredby jason.potsanderCompetitive RacerGoshen, INI love how light, bright, compact, and well engineered this light is. I love the integrated rubber strap mount. I also love how it came with a helmet adapter and a piece that allows you to mount it like a gopro under a K-Edge mount to save bar space.

Review by HGGreat light for night and dayby HGDayton, OHI've been using this light for both evening and daytime use. Very bright for evening, great pulse mode for daytime.
Charging is easy. The charger plug door is well-made and seals well.
I like the mount. It keeps the light in place, but allows for up and down adjustment quickly.
Overall, great light for my needs.

Review by TomMGreat lightby TomMCycling EnthusiastRaleigh, NCI have used a L&M Urban 800 and its predecessor 750 for a number of years, mainly for commuting. Great light in a number of respects - very bright with many settings, reasonably long battery life, easy to charge, simple to mount and remove from your bike, very compact and light weight. The battery on my 750 started failing after 2 years of regular commuting more than 2 hoursday and L&M offered to replace the battery for $XX or sell me a new 800 at a reduced price. I bought the 800 and have been more than pleased with it. I generally run mine on the low-medium power settings for longer battery life and it provides all of the illumination that I need. I only run it on high during rainy commutes in the dark. Since I commute year-round, my lights get a lot of use.

Review by Bob AldrichBright, Light & Reliableby Bob AldrichCycling EnthusiastMinneapolis, MN4 of 4 customers found this review helpful.Once Daylight Savings Time ends, it's dark when I leave work here in Minneapolis, so I use this every day. The surprise is that the lowest setting (175 lumens) is more than sufficient for safety-it absolutely allows me to be seen. The brightest setting (800 lumens) is bright enough to be almost blinding for oncoming motorists, and very much allows one to see the way. I would use it without hesitation for trail riding at night.
It is extremely small and lightweight for such a powerful beam, and comes on and off the bike in an instant-most helpful when running errands, I don't want my light stolen. Although I had some reservations about the rubber strap, it has held up well so far.
This is not my first Light & Motion light-I had a system for several years, now obsolete, that worked very, very well. A great company that is very focused on just one thing, and they do it well. It's nice that they are a US company making product here in the states.
Highly recommended.

Review by SteveonabikeA quality product that is American made.by SteveonabikeCycling EnthusiastSan Jose, CA4 of 4 customers found this review helpful.I use the Light and Motion Urban 800 headlight for daytime riding. It works very well and is highly visible. I use pulse and the light works for at least two of my 3 hour rides. Riding during the day, the benefit of the yellow side lights is reduced, but it is nice to know they are there. I definitely recommend this light.
Pros
Quality workmanship
Highly visible from the front
Extremely easy to use the controls when mounted
Easy access to the charging port
Compatible with my HTC phone charging system
Fits a vast variety of handlebars
Cons
Only one-the headlamp and mounting bracket are one unit. It mounts with a rubber strap that needs to be unhooked each time the lamp is removed from the bike, instead of having a semi-permanent mount that the headlamp pops or twists into. This is annoying because you have to remove the entire light and bracket assembly each time you bring the light inside to charge it.

Review by pariahdecss4Light failed after 5 usesby pariahdecss4Cycling Enthusiastmassachusetts4 of 4 customers found this review helpful.Unfortunately for me light failed today and can no longer be turned on. Review by AnonymousGreat light, easy to useby AnonymousCompetitive Racer4 of 4 customers found this review helpful.I like this light a lot for early morning rides. The battery life is adequate for 1-2 hours, haven't tested beyond that so I'm not sure if this would be great for evening rides where you'd be in the dark if it died. Intensity and beam shape are great for road riding. Side light for visibility is neat, but I'm not convinced it's that useful, at least not for handlebar mount. Recharging is easy with USB.

Review by MootsMarvI could see clearly out in the bleakness of my cycling in Az......felt safe and secure!by MootsMarvCycling EnthusiastColoradoRocky Mtns.I was able to see and be seen amongst a group of cyclists in our trek from Phx to Globe, Az. The road and paths were illuminated and the brightness allowed me to safely cycle for a number of hours before dawn.....the light was helpful even as the sun came up....being seen as well during a pre-ride tune-up in heavy street traffic.....the Urban 800 has a very long charge and easy to operate.
