I hated this with first tire installed. Was the most difficult tire I ever installed. Then I watched the video on the stans site. Pretty easy on tire 2. Watch the video first instead of reading the instructions. Ride is soo much smoother. About 1100 miles on them now, wearing very well. Ride in areas that required gatorskins(flatted often) and specialized armadillo(still flatted ave 1month). Have not flatted yet, have ridden on gravel and over blackberry vines-very impressive.

I'm into road racing and hill climbs. This tire is fantastic for that purpose and all the related training that goes along with this type of road cycling. My recent purchase was actually my second set of Hutchinson Fusion 3 Tubeless Tires. I put a little over 3000 miles on my first set before calling them worn out. While I use tire sealant, I've never had a flat on these tires. They're also great on fast, tight curve descents as well. The rubber grabs the road well, even when the pavement is wet. I like to joke that there is nothing finer than the sound of rubber on pavement as you scream through the tight corners of a mountain descent. And this tire does that well. I'll definitely be buying a third set in another 3000 miles or so. The only downside, and this seems to be true for all tubeless tires, is the difficult task of initially mounting the tires on the rims. You'll definitely need to have a compressor to initially inflate the tires. At least that's been my experience. Even still, I'm a tubeless convert, and the Hutchinson Fusion 3 Tubeless are the tires for me.

I run Hutchinson Fusion 3 Tubeless Road Tires on Fulcrum 1 2-way fit wheels. Unless I've just flatted, which has only happened 2-3 times in the last three years despite putting 4-5K miles annually on the bike, I run them tubeless at about 90-95 psi. The ride quality is great and I get about 1,500 miles out of a rear tire - bit more on the front. Before I went tubeless I got a few hundred more miles out of the Vittorio's I would ride. My only complaint is that they're quite expensive.

Okay, here's the scoop. I've been riding tubeless for about 3 years now. I've used all 3 current Hutchinsons, plus the older Fusion 2 and the Maxxis Padrone tubeless. I have two Shimano wheelsets (DA & Ultegra) that I switch between and I log from 150 to 300 mi.wk. I ride with a couple of competitive clubs. I inflate all road tubeless tires 95-100 front and 100-105 rear. I like the Fusion 3 and Maxxis Padrones equally and consider them both somewhat better than the others. What I like best about the F-3 decent handling on fast descents and hard cornering, ease of inflation (lots of soapy water), good air retention for the first 2 months or so (with any sealant except Caffelatex), fairly good puncture resistance (a notch better than the Padrone). What I don't like cracks everywhere on the outer casing after about 2-3 months - not quite as bad as the older Fusion 2, but definitely a knock in comparison to the Padrone. BTW, I have tank tested my F-3s when they start showing signs of cracking and they do bubble out air at the cracks, especially at the mold line close to the bead. A bit reminiscent of old Clement silk sewups. If Hutchinson ever gets a handle on this cracking thing, I'll give'em 5 stars.

Converting your road tires to tubeless is the cheapest and most noticeable improvement you can make to your ride. So much more comfortable, and 3000 miles without a flat so far!! Hutchinson tires w Stans notubes

First set of tubeless tires

These are my first tubeless tires and second set of Hutchinson's. They roll well and make a nice humming sound like tubulars. The sidewalls are much stronger than the other regular clincher Hutchinson's I've ridden. However, they don't seem as grippy in the wet. Several months of commuting in wet weather and no flats. So far so good.

These tires ride nice and have been reliable thus far. Took a little work getting them on my Dura-ace wheel set for the first time but I have the technique down now. I'm glad I mounted the wheels myself to learn the technique of using tubeless although if and when I flat for the first time I will probably just put an inner tube in for the rest of the trip. But technically you could just patch and use a CO2 cartridge to fill. Once someone comes out with a cheap tubeless rim I think tubeless will become more popular than tubed tires.

I have converted 3 wheelsets to tubeless and own a dedicated set of Stan's Alpha 340's as well. Got into tubeless for 'cross and decided to give the road tires a try since I already had several tubeless wheelsets. Once I mounted and rode these, I would not go back to regular clinchers. If you like no flats, less rolling resistance, reasonably light weight, durability, grip and comfort, these puppies are the way to go! I have ridden many sew ups - for more than 30 years - but went to clinchers in the late 90's after having my fill of the expense and hassle of tubulars. Tubeless seems to be a reasonable and more practical alternative to me. I have trained nearly 2000 miles on road tubeless in the last couple of months, on the road and even on the dirt using my cross bike and the comfort, reliability and overall performance have me sold. Your mileage may vary but I won't look back, even with half a dozen perfectly good sets of Conti GP's laying around in a box now. The ride with 80 to 85 psi is fantastic (my weight is 148) and these tires will hold up to some fairly abusive gravel roads without complaints or flats. The ride quality with 85psi or less approaches that of sew ups without the expense or hassles of gluing, stone bruising and other tubular issues.

I have been riding tubless for three years with Shimano tubless wheels. I love the ride. I tried to convert some conventional clinchers to these tires with mixed results. I finally gave up and I am considering the new Shamano carbon rim TL's for my latest bike. I ride at least 3000 miles each year and have found that a rear tubless last me about 1500 miles, and the front can make it almost 3000. I have not had a flat that has left me stranded. The tire went down slowly and I was able to make it back to my car. I have had to replace one tire due to a cut to the casing. Most of the time I can get a new tire to seal with a hand pump but I have had two that required a compressor to get a seal. The last two tires I ordered are all black. The ones I have ridden before were black with two grey strips. I love to bomb down steep declines and ride the North Georgia Mountains, and I have even ridden the Dragon's Tail US129 in North Carolina & Tennesse. I have great confidence in these tires. If they would last a little longer I would have no complaints. I am a 185 lb83 Kilo rider.

Sew Up Feel Without the Hassle

I've been riding the Fusion 3s for about 1 month mounted on Campy Shamals. First of all, what a great ride. Smooths out chip n seal, corners confidently even at high speed and they are wearing well so far. Pretty good acceleration too, although it does take a little getting used to riding at lower pressures. The tires are filled with Effetto Mariposa CafeLatex. Hit some glass and the tire sealed instantly. I've ridden sew ups for over 20 years and missed them sorely when I switched to clinchers several years ago. However, the Fusion 3s come pretty close to having the suppleness and handling of a good sew up without the hassle. They are a bit pricey, though. But when on sale are comparable with Conti 4000s my clincher tire of choice.
