Does what their suppose to do for the money.

I had reservations about going tubeless due to the name sayers but, after 500 miles and no punctures yet, I am pretty satisfied. No flats yet so we'll see...They roll effortlessly with 90 lbs front and 95 rear.

I do check air pressure every couple of days as they do as all tires do loose air.

Mediocre tire that does not wear well

I can only give 2 stars to this tire because of mediocre wear. These tires are hard to seat, so I ran them with tubes for about 100 miles to try to stretch them out. During that time, I flatted after only 16 miles so the tires are not hardcase by any measure.

I finally got these tires to seat on the bead and I filled them with sealant. After about 100 more miles, the rear tire developed a bulge that could be felt while riding. I suspect something internally gave way.

Western Bike Works was good about sending me a replacement. I can't get it to seat for tubeless running either, so I have a tube in it. I won't be buying Fusion tires anymore.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your review! We'd love to see if we can help you get these tires seated on your rim without a tube. What rims are you using? Often with tubeless tires an air compressor can be a great help in getting the tire seated for the first time. Please do get in touch with us again at [email protected] so we can see if we can help you out!

Thanks,
Stacia

Excellent and reliable tubeless tire. Good grip and durable while being quite fast.

This is my second season riding this tire on a set of Dura-Ace WH-7900-C24-TL wheels.

Last year I logged nearly 4000 miles on them with zero flats. I did have a few of punctures, but the Hutchinson Protect'Air Max sealant I had inside the tires kept them inflated. At most I lost maybe 30psi when I did get punctures. Although these are certainly not the lightest tires on the market, they are still quite fast and very grippy in the corners with excellent road feel. I also rode them in the rain a number of times with no issues. I just installed my third set of these tires and am ready for the new season.

I have been riding Fusion tires since 2006 - love them!

I have been riding Shimano Dura Ace tubeless wheels and Fusion tires since they first came out in 2006. Since my very first set I was hooked, and have ridden almost nothing else until the Secteur tires came out. In fact, I am still riding the original wheel, and just threw away one of my first tires! Over the years that tire had been punctured 2 times...but I added more sealant and kept on rolling. Besides the ride and convenience of almost never having a flat in 8 years, safety is a huge factor with tubeless tires. The last time this tire lost air it was mounted on my front wheel, and I was going down a steep hill at 41 mph. I thought it felt a little squishy, but kept riding with the group for awhile and finally asked someone to look at the tire for me. He said my tire was completely flat, so I needed to pull over. I filled it with a can of Fast-Air, and rode it for another 6 months. When I used to ride tubed tires I had a couple of similar blowouts, with the tire coming off the rim and me flying across pavement in the Superman pose! Long story, but tubeless tires are much safer and I will ride nothing else. I have just recently gone to bigger 25-28c tubeless tires and love them even more, since I weigh 210 lbs.

Now in 25c!

Got these because they are truly 25c in size. First used on Easton EA90 rims, later on some 25mm wide carbon rims. Easy, straight seat in on both, tubeless, with sealant. Compared to Fusion 3 in 23c size, they are noticeably wider and more cushy at any given pressure, not quite as cushy as Sector 28s, but smoother than Intensives. Oddly, they weighed in 10g (each) heavier than the fatter Sector 28s. Despite that and how much I like the Sectors, they may be the best clincher tires I have ever used. They seem as fast as 23s, but better ride on wider rims under my 160. No flats, of course, and near tubular ride and handling without fear of broken bottles or pavement edges. I'll ride these until spring on our trashy, gravelly, broken N.M. roads and love every mile.

I've been using these for the last three years with about 20k miles.

I think I've had three flats in that time and all three were when I ran them until they were paper thin and then ran through glass. Only one didn't seal up with the sealant.

Set up easier than some of the others I've tried.

The center seam on this tire split after a few rides for no apparent reason.

I put this tire on my wife's bike, and after a few rides the center seam split while she was riding along a flat section of road, miles from home. The split was not caused by any road hazard, and was two-plus inches long, center of the tire. The tube blew out immediately. Fortunately my wife was able to stop without incident. This ruined the ride, however, because the split was too long for a boot, and we did not trust the rest of the tire anyway.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear about the tire defect however I can assure you that it is very uncommon of Hutchinson's Fusion 3 tires. These tire have a history of preforming excellent while being puncture protective. Great tire for 300 miles then sidewall becomes susceptible to too many flats

My first experience with tubeless road tires not great. Just too many blowout flats. They do seal and will hold 50lbs to get home but it gets expensive for the sake of a comfortable ride. After 3 tires in less than a 1000 miles I switched to Secour 28 mil. Only 200 miles on them so far.

Just switched from 23mm to 25mm. Improvement in ride quality was much greater than I expected (on Fulcrum R1 2WF wheels). Still a chore to get on the rim - use soapy water to lubricate 2nd bead while getting it on the rim, and again around sides to seat the beads.

The tires are terrific IF mounted properly. They hold air for days, and run beautifully at surprisingly low pressures. They have a great road feel, just this side of tubulars, and much nicer than any clinchers I've ever ridden.

Fusion 3 25mm just like the fusion 3 23mm bit wider and that is a good thing. Well made ride nicely and hold air well. For some reason they seem to mount easier than the 23mm. Be nice if they were cheaper.

I live in an area where the roads are pretty rough. Other tires failed frequently. I am now on my second set of Fusion 3's after the first gave up at about the 3000 mile point. Great performance out of these tires over that time. Only one flat which was a severe puncture anyway, no tire would have survived it. I also put a set on my wife's bike and she can ride without worry of changing a flat. The fact that I bought them again should say it all.

I could not get this tubeless tire to hold air. I used sealer during the original application of the tire to rim. Initially seemed okay, only to have the tire go soft within 48 hrs. This has not been my experience with other tubeless tires. I submerged the wheel to find diffuse leaks of air over nearly the entire tire. I put a tube into the tire until I could get a replacement, which solved the problem. I have thought highly of a previous purchase of a tubular Hutchinson tire, but this product is not up to standand and I would not purchase another. I replaced with a Maxxis Padrone and the issue is solved.

Smooth ride, but set up could be easier

I've got two pair - on Fulcrum Racing Zero's and Shamal Ultra's. They're a pain to mount, although leaving them in the sun for half an hour or so helps. Getting the sealant in can be a messy proposition. But once that's done, the ride simply can't be beat. I run about 95 psi and I seem to be about .5 to 1 mph faster than on regular clinchers. And the ride is much smoother. Cornering is above average. Durability is only average. One of my rear tires blew sealant all over the frame. I can't find the leak and the tire still holds air. All in all I recommend them, just beware of the set-up

I've been using Hutchinson Fusion 3 Tubeless Road Tires on Fulcrum 1 2-way fit wheels for over couple years. Never had a flat while using them and I log 4000 milesyear. I ride them at 90-95 psi. I don't use any messy tire sealant and carry tubes and patches in case I get a flat. The ride quality is great and using a tubeless tire at lower pressures helps on the rough tar&chip roads. I change the tires every year. Wish they were less expensive but I love the feeling I'll never get a pinch flat which tend to be common for others on some of our pothole abundant roads.
