Put the scale in a bike stand. Hang bike, learn weight. Try not to spend too much on lighter parts-you can cut weight off your midsection less expensively right?

My first bike scale was the Ultimate Direction hanging scale and it lasted well over 12 years. I replaced with this one which is the same company just new name. I would recommend it to anyone.

Very nice. I'm not a weight weenie but do enjoy weighing different wheels. Solidly built. Provides useful info as opposed to manufacturers claims.
