Great clincher climbing wheel

Use this set for everyday climbing and they are the usual solid Enve wheels. Right now with latex inner tube and conti 5000 but intend to try tubeless relatively soon. For racing - climbing - use tubular still lighter.

Purchased as a replacement for some aging Mavic R-Sys wheels. The SES 3.4 wheels weigh about 50 g more but the aerodynamic benefits are massive. The old wheels performed poorly in cross winds. Not so with these wheels. Ride quality is excellent and an improvement over the R-Sys wheels.

At a local road circuit race I had higher max speeds compared to the same race on the old wheels. Acceleration seems about the same.

Braking is okay. I don't think it is as good as the alloy wheels but the modulation, in general, is good. The patterned brake area on the rim creates a distinctive sound while braking. Not sure if that will fade as the rimbrake pad wears.

Setting up as tubeless was a challenge and much harder than the other tubeless tires I have set-up (cross bike). Not sure if that is the wheeltire combo or just the reality of tubeless road tires. I'm running Schwalbe Pro One tires.

The rims are wider than older rims so if you are running older brakes (like SRAM Red 10 speed) you will likely need to upgrade the brakes.
