For reference, Im about 190 lbs and used these mostly for commuting on pavement but also the occasional group ride, along with some gravel and easy mtb trails. I put them on narrow rims - 15mm internal, which isnt supposed to work for tires this wide but felt fine for me as long as the pressure wasnt too low. Around 45 psi or so they started to feel squirmy on those wheels, which isnt that much lower than the 60psi max but at my weight Im running near max on any tubed tire anyways. Still found them comfy and grippy at the max, though. And any extra rolling resistance on pavement felt surprisingly minor with the tread on these. That quick rolling could be due to the casing feeling fairly thin, which also contributed to a couple punctures I got in the first few hundred miles by debris that I feel some hardier tires would have easily shed. These seem to be more racing type tires, which is about my only complaint. Great ride, but wont likely last too long.
First time I went off road with these I stupidly tried some unfamiliar mtb trails, soaked and muddy from several days of rain, in low light. They performed great, felt stable and planted. Their width helps them feel comfortable on light-moderate gravel as well. Speaking of width, these are wider than the marked 33mm. Even on my narrow rims, they measured close to 35mm, and Ive seen another review where a guy measured them up around 37-38 on wider rims. Great unless youre racing CX and get checked. Overall Im pleased with them, and maybe theyll last longer than it seems like right now.
I probably shoulda bought a gravel, rather than cycle-cross bike, based on how i have used it. Mostly paved roads, some dirt and a bit of MTB single track. Have tried several different tires, but like these the best.
My only issue is that they seem to have an unusually tall profile, and just barely clear the frame in back. Have worn through the paint on the cross bars. If they came in a larger size, I would put that on the front, where there is lots of room.
They offer plenty of grip for the dry conditions here, even with the center tread nearly worn off. Perhaps not the best choice for wetter conditions, however.
