I have tried lots of tires, but gatorskins consistently offer the best blend of durability and ride control. I use them on all of my bikes (road and commute).

One of those products that once you use it you're skeptical to switch to another. Proven durability and ride comfort.

I've got thousands of miles on these tires. Absolutely zero flats or issues with them. I ride all winter long, all summer long on them.

They aren't the most supple feeling of tire, but given the protection they provide, they are excellent handling and feeling tires. I heartily recommend them to anyone that doesn't want to hassle with frequent flats.

A lot of people seem to look down on the Gatorskins - they're common, but that's for a reason. Great tires, great durability. Well worth the investment.

Very durable tire that's great for long rides and training. My current pair is at about 4k miles and I can't remember having any flats on them. I gladly recommend these to friends for training and longer rides. They aren't the fastest clincher out there, but if you're just going out for a good ride and don't want to deal with fixing flats, these are the answer.

1 year, no flats on a dirty commute through a construction zone.

I'm very happy with these tires. They held up against the worst that CalTrans could throw at them during a year of commutes through a freeway construction zone. Once they hit about 1000 miles, they got really slippery, though, and it was time to replace them. (I'm a pretty big guy and I don't usually get more than 800-1000mi out of a set of roadie tires.)

I purchased the 25mm version and will never go back to 23's. Best combination of comfort and speed I have found in this catagory. For training and club riding on my steel frame no trouble keeping up with the carbon frames on 23's.

No punchures so far in one month of riding 200 plus miles a week. They are worth the little extra cost over some of their competitors. Handling is pretty good so buy a set and enjoy.

My favorite training tire!

So Cal

I've used Continental tires for many years. In the old days, Ultra Super Sport and Grand Prix were my favorites. After taking a 15 year hiatus from biking, I recently retired from work and am back on the road again. The Gatorskins were recommended by my local bike shop for their durability and puncture resistance... redeeming traits when it comes to riding in urban areas. I bought a dozen tubes a year ago and still have nine on the shelf with weekly mileage totals of 150-200 miles!

Been using a 23mm on my rear wheel for about 6 mos and 1500 mi. of commuting in the inner suburbs with one presumted puncture so small I never found it. The Slime tube healed spontaneously and permanently, which tells you what a minor wound it was. Not a huge sample, but I think this is better performance than the cheapo kevlars I've used in the past. Handling is about what you'd expect for a hard, stiff clincher, but not as bad as some I've used. Overall, a very good tire, which I will buy again.

The gatorskin is the best puncture proof tire on the market today.

I have almost 6,000 miles on my gatorskin and it is still looking good. I have never befor received that kind of mileage out of any tire. It is on the front wheel. The gatorskin on the back has almost 3,000 miles and still looking good. We have a lot of debrie on the roads and also they sealcoat most of the roads. which gives a very abrasive surface. I just bought a new bike and I insisted on having Gatorskins installed on it.

So Cal

I have done a great deal of riding on various Conti tires but for very long distance (200 miles ) this tire is unbeatable. 25s are definitely more comfortable than 23s but either one holds up well.

Great Tire

Gatorskins seem to live up to Contis claim of being the ultimate training and racing tire where puncture protection is priority.

The bead-to-bead Duraskin layer makes the sidewalls slash-resistant and the aramid belt under the tread is tough for a training tire.

Its light and fast too, with a rolling performance not far off that of a race tire.

Highly recommended tires for commuting

Continental Gatorskins are renown for their durability and quality. I've stuck with the model for the past half-year of commuting through wet, snowy, and pothole filled streets, and the Gatorskins have held together nicely. No complaints whatsoever, they do what any durable tire should do.

I have been using Gatorskin for the last 5,000 miles and have never had a flat. If you would rather be riding vs. fixing a flat, use Gatorskins.

I have been using Continental tires for around 10 years and have found that they stand the test of time. I have purchased all types of continental tires and use them in all conditions. I use Gatorskins for training in the off season and then switch to a racing tire when season begins... Bulletproof!!!

These tires a bit heavier than my summer Conti's, but they're great for winter roads with the added grit. I don't relish the idea of changing a flat in 20-degree weather, so I put these on in the fall and take 'em off in the spring. A great tire for winter rides.

We ride the hills and mountains of east Tennessee. There are a lot of up hill grinds, curves, and swift downhills. Tires provide a stable and secure ride. So far, flats are seldom and always the results of tube failure.

A really good trainingfast touring tire. I converted a Titanium racing bike into a cafevillage runabout and mounted these for durability. It's a bit stiff and uncomfortable at 110 PSI but if you don't mind the added rolling resistance of lower pressures, at 85 PSI, it's OK. I've put on about 200 miles on the pair without any flats, and generally happy with these tires. Grip is outstanding around fast corners. They look good, too.

I use Gatorskins on all my bikes including the tandem. Great for training and Ultra distance events, the only problem I have ever seen is cuts in the side wall when hitting a really sharp rock, but any tire would have had a problem with that - and I still finished the Heartbreak double century.
