Ideal Commute Backpack, Super Versatile too!

I've been an owner of the barrage cargo backpack for a couple years now. I am an avid cyclist commuter and this bag provides all the functionality and protection I need. The cargo netting is perfect for stowing my walking shoes since I ride clipped-in. The welded bucket lining provides waterproof protection for all my precious gear and the bag itself is super cool looking to boot! It's also made right here in the USA!

I highly recommend this backpack to all cyclist commuters.

This pack is the bomb!

Switched from an Osprey to this pack and am never going back. Perfect size for commuting, waterproof that doesn't require a stop to put on a rain cover, and most importantly, extremely comfortable. When I picked up the pace at Western Bike, the sales associate told me it was her favorite pack and after a few months of use it is mine also.

Logical layout and plenty of room

I can pack the main compartment full of groceries, then if I need more space stick more stuff in the cargo net. Also great for travel.

I switched from the Bravo to this bag for two reasons Clasp instead of velcro and the cargo net. I haven't been disappointed with the change. However, the size is still smaller than I'd like. I feel there's a market for a slightly bigger backpack without going all the way to the Barrage Pro. I'm more often than not running out of room with and having to decide on what to leave behind at the store of when headed to a race. As always the bag is solid and every bit what I would expect out of Chrome. An added bonus that I wasn't expecting is that it is significantly more comfortable than the Bravo due to a softer, yet still firm, back panel.

I have had this bag for months now and I can honestly say that it's very durable. Padding on the back makes for a comfy ride when riding with it on. Webbing on the front is super convenient for carrying pretty much anything. Very spacey inside. Perfect for everyday use!

Have I finally found the best commuting bag!?

Throughout my career I've searched and searched for the perfect bag. It cannot be found. But as I've started commuting by bike I've tried to find the balance of needing something to carry my laptop, change of clothes, be light, etc. I've tried Timbuk2 (my preferred bag provider), panniers, etc. and nothing was great for me. I decided I didn't want panniers as I only have one bike and didn't want racks when racing or endurance rides. Taking them onoff was a pain I didn't want anymore. I've had a Chrome messenger bag in the past and decided to try this out. I think this has become a good balance for my commuting needs. It fits my laptop and a full change of clothes just fine. I ride in rain and this has kept everything dry. The reflective stripe also helps. I wish the bottom was fully reflective is my only design change. This has been a great purchase and I don't regret it. I won't be seeking another bag for commuting.

Very durable bag

This is a really durable bag, the material is heavy duty. I've put everything from bike tools to about $50 of groceries in it. Feel very stable since the main compartment is just one big plastic lined tub. I have even used the entire bag as a cooler with ice and beers at the beach with no real leaks.

Down side is I wish there was a few more compartments. There is one small zip compartment on the outside good for keys, wallet and phone so they aren't floating around the main compartment.

I have been using this pack on my daily commute for several weeks now. I really like the size...not too huge but big enough for clothes and laptop, documents, essentials, etc. Shoes fit well in the webbing on the back, or it also works to store a helmet. Metal buckle hardware on the chest strap that can be opened and closed with gloved hands is nice too. I used to commute with panniers but I don't think I will go back to that system after having used this pack. I added some reflective trim to the webbing on the back. The photo shows a large reflective stripe but most will want to tuck that into the webbing so it doesn't blow around behind you. One sleeve inside the main compartment that will fit a modern laptop. One other small zippered essentials pocket on the side that is discreetly hidden. It's big enough for glasses, phone, wallet, etc. Otherwise it's just one big opening which makes it easy to pack. Roll top design keeps the rain out. Stitching seems bombproof on it.

I use this backpack for school and riding, it's pretty small for textbooks, but if you just carry some note books(2-3) and a folder you'll be fine. You will get compliments, I've recently received 4 compliments. It's a really nice backpack, I would buy again.

As stated this bag is a great looking bag but is very efficient as well. The fact that it is weather proof is a must here in Chicago. My son loves the bag and uses it to go school most of the time. We both like this style as oppose to the messenger edition offered by chrome.

Definitely worth the price.
