Description
The Tangente Platinum Pro EVO Brake Pads are Zipp's perfect pads for carbon wheels.
For these bake pads, Zipp took what they liked about their cork pads and made them better. The surface area of the pads was increased for greater stopping power, as was the radial height to offer better heat management and pad life. These pads are also 1mm thinner than their cork predecessors, to better accommodate wider rims and integrated brake systems. The new compound they are made from is uniquely formulated to deal with the high temperatures that breaking with carbon rims can produce, and the groove pattern in the pads also helps draw threw air for cooling as well as sweep water away for excellent wet weather braking. Zipp demands nothing but the best from their carbon wheels and these pads are designed to live up to that same expectation.
The Tangente Platinum Pro EVO Brake Pads are available for Shimano/SRAM and Campagnolo style brakes. Two pads per package, enough for one brake.

Reviews
These are to be used with carbon rims, and in dry conditions they are indistinguishable from alloy rims. Still good stopping power in the wet. Zipp wheel warranty says you must use carbon-specific brake pads and these are good ones.
My road bike came equipped with these brake pads to go with the Zipp 404 carbon wheels. When they wore-down I tried some other types and brands of carbon brake pads just because I could save a few dollars. Turns out, though, that it wasn't a good deal in the end. Other brake pads I tried made a slick surface of the carbon braking area, reducing stopping power. These Zipp Tangente pads don't do that! They provide great stopping power without marring the carbon brake surface. It seems to me, too, that they don't wear as fast as some of the earlier versions. I'm getting plenty of life from these and I won't go back to any other brand ever again!
I have been riding Zipp 202 wheels for six years and have always used the Zipp brake pads. They do not wear out the wheels and the braking is not bad. All carbon wheels do not brake as well as alloy but these pads are very predictable and consistent. My wheels show no wear to speak of in the brake track so these pads have been a great investment to preserve very expensive wheels. Highly recommended.
I have used these brake pads on my Zipp 303's for descents in the Alps, Dolomites, Vermont and California. The stopping power at high speeds is incredible, there is no squeak or noise, and the feeling of safety that comes w the knowledge that you can slow down when hitting speeds of 40mph plus and bank into a turn - priceless. These pads are expensive, I find they last about 3-5000 miles, but Zipp wheels are expensive and staying upright and on the road is priceless. No brake compares
Stopping is really important especially when you spend a lot of money on your bike and wheels. I'm okay spending extra for a quality product and this is a quality product. And they work.
