Aerodynamics without the extra weight.

The 30 Clincher wheels benefit from the a Hybrid Toroidal® rim shape inspired by the wind cheating shape perfected on Zipp's 101 wheels. This unique design allows their relatively shallow, lightweight 30mm cross-section to outperform many deeper, and heavier rims in wind tunnel tests. In addition to their advantage on the gram scale, the shorter profiles also offer excellent cross-wind stability.

Industry leading Sapim CX-Ray stainless steel straight-pull bladed spokes shave a few additional grams while furthering aero efficiency. External alloy nipples make service hassle-free, and the hubs roll on low maintenance sealed cartridge bearings.

The 30 Clincher Wheelset features 18 spokes front and 20 spokes rear. Available in Black. Choose Shimano/SRAM 8/9/10/11 or Campagnolo 9/10/11-speed compatible. 700c (622 ISO). The maximum recommended rider weight limit is 250lbs.

Actual weights for the 30 Wheelset are 765g Front, 890g Rear, 1655 grams/set.

Today marks one year and 7600 miles on the Zipp 30s. they have been reliable and super bulletproof. Never a need for truing and they still look new. The hubby have to be tightened every 1500 miles to adjust lateral play , but this is typical for Zipp wheels. The adjustment is easy. They are not the lightest wheel available, but for the price the best training wheel on the market. I also have the standard Mavic Cosmics that came with my Boardman. I have used them on occasion, but the feel is so different I avoid using them. Plus they are not as sturdy and I am a big climber averaging 23,000 feet of climbing a week. I require stability as I weight 170lbs and and am out of the saddle a lot !

Again, for the second time, I highly recommend these wheels. The price is great, reliability excellent and weight is decent.

Great wheels but I had spokes loosen

I received the wheels in good order. The tires mounted easily. The rims look great and the workmanship is excellent. The free hub can be easily disassembled if it would need serviced. I did have a couple spokes loosen on the rear wheel non-drive side after about 100 miles. I tensioned & re-trued the wheel and they came loose again after only about 50 miles. The Loctite that is recommended on the wheel service bulletin is a thread sealer that is recommended for course pipe threads not a thread retainer for fine small diameter threads. I cleaned the threads on all the spokes on the non-drive side and reassembled with Loctite 222. To date I have about 600 miles on the wheel set and have had no other issues.

Overall, these seem to be great wheels but I think there is a good possibility you may have some minor spoke problems.

Nice Wheels, Questionable Quality Control

Upon unboxing, heard a rattle in rear wheel, found a bit of aluminum shaving inside the rim, just big enough to be a real pain to get out, but got it eventually. Over first few rides, 4 of 10 rear non-drive spoke nipples came loose, a few spins on the truing stand and some loctite straightened things out- but did get a little rub on new tire and frame from the wobbly wheel.

Once everything above corrected, very happy with the wheels light, fast, sturdy- especially at this price. Paired beautifully with 25c GP4000s and latex tubes.

Hopefully my initial experience was an isolated occurrence, I don't recall seeing other reviewers mention similar problems.

Fast and oh so smooth riding wheels

I just did my first ride of 20 miles on the wheels. My Tuesday Thursday workout is a 3.5 mile hill at a 7.3% grade. I have been training on this hill for months now and record my ride times. Today i shaved a full 40 seconds off my ride compared to the 16 previous rides. My previous wheels were Mavic Aksum Elites. They were durable wheels but finally fell out of true after numerous long distance rides.

Anyway, i am impressed at how smooth and comfortable these wheels are. Very easy to accelerate and as you can see hill training times improves. What I have noticed is how beautiful the hubs spin and seem frictionless. My Fianc who rides with me is riding HED Belgiums with DT Swiss 350s. A great set of wheels too. I feel Zip 30s are easily on par with them, perhaps a bit more aerodynamic in profile.

I would highly recommend them - they are bomb proof and good looking fast wheels.

Bullet proof, little pricey

Have ridden the wheels for about 2500 miles with no maintenance done, still run true. I weigh over 200 pounds. Ran thru a pot hole that was about 4 inches deep at near 20 mph. Was sure there would be damage. Wheels still running true. Good low end Zipp wheel. Seem to be faster than the Mavic wheels on my other bike.

Bought them to ride cross and replace Mavic Kysyrium. Elites. Should have stayed with the Mavics. This is my second set of Zipps (have a 404808 combination on TT) and I'm just not impressed. Don't know what it is, but the Mavics track truer, accelerate faster, and the hubs run smoother and engage quicker. The Zipp 30s were on sale and I got a great price, but I think I could have done better with another brand.
