Description High-volume confidence with rock-solid SG2 puncture protection—what more can you ask for?
The 650b WTB Venture tire is designed specifically to give you confidence and allow you to ride wherever you want to go. WTB calls this a "set it and forget it" tire, and it truly is a jack of all trades.
The high volume footprint allows for more traction and is less likely to sink into mud and sand. Combining this design with a dual rubber compound and larger corner nobs, this tire will roll quickly and have excellent traction and durability.
Whether you are out on secluded doubletrack, gravel grinding, trailblazing, or anything in-between, this tire will have you covered.
Take your tires to the next level with SG2
This version of the Venture features WTB's all-new SG2 puncture protection. This new protection layer is a lightweight, ultra-thin nylon insert that provides bead-to-bead coverage to ensure all surfaces of the tire are provided with an additional level of defense against punctures.
Exactly how much more durable are they? Lab tests show the addition of the bead-to-bead SG2 puncture protection layer to a 120tpi casing provides 33% more sidewall protection and 17% more tread protection than the standard 60tpi offerings without SG2.
While SG2 is primarily a puncture protection layer, its tightly woven fibers also improve air retention, which prevents seeping at the sidewall and helps maintain pressure between rides.
Features:
Fantastic durability and sidewall protection with WTB's new SG2 layer
High traction and stability
Excellent in any riding condition
A supple 120tpi casing
Tubless-ready

Nice ride, but side walls leak sealant.

I really like the ride & traction. They are great. However, the sidewalls leak sealant. I've had these mounted for 10 days with OrangeSeal Endurance. The beads are totally sealed, but both tires keep leaking small amounts of sealant through invisible holes in the sidewalls. I wash down my bike and tires after almost every ride, then put it away in my basement. The next day, when I get ready to ride, I notice at least a half dozen pinhead size spots of sealant on the outside of the sidewalls on each tire. Touching them turns my fingertip orange (OrangeSeal). I though the main advantage of the 120tpi & the SG2 concept was to eliminate sidewall leakage??? It apparently doesn't work with OrangeSeal? Before I bought these tires, I ran Panaracer GravelKing SK tires -- they did not leak sealant. I may decide to go back to to the SK.
