Description

Mixed surface bliss

The WTB Riddler 700c Tire blends a fast-rolling center with a taller side knobs to balance speed and cornering confidence for dirt and gravel riding. Dual DNA rubber means a harder, speedier center compound combined with a softer edge compound that allows for increased cornering traction.

Take your tires to the next level with SG2

This version of the Riddler features WTB's all-new SG2 puncture protection. This new protection layer is a lightweight, ultra-thin nylon insert that provides bead-to-bead coverage to ensure all surfaces of the tire are provided with an additional level of defense against punctures.

Exactly how much more durable are they? Lab tests show the addition of the bead-to-bead SG2 puncture protection layer to a 120tpi casing provides 33% more sidewall protection and 17% more tread protection than the standard 60tpi offerings without SG2.

While SG2 is primarily a puncture protection layer, its tightly woven fibers also improve air retention, which prevents seeping at the sidewall and helps maintain pressure between rides.

Features:

  • Shallow center knobs keep you fast, and side knobs keep you rubber-side-down in the dirt
  • 120 TPI casing
  • WTB's SG2 Protection
  • Claimed weight of 560g (45mm version)

Use for mixed gravel/dirt trail riding and on rough pavement trails. Also use for winter commuting when road shoulders fill with dirt and debris.

Surprisingly Good On-Road Tire!

I bought these after an on-gravel crash due to inadequate grip. I mounted these on carbon rims (took a few tries to get them seated) and have ridden extensively on and off road. They provide great traction with little drag, but the big surprise for me was how well they run on pavement. Finished a 100 km road ride and they performed great. Very smooth, no noticeable drag, very sure footed. I recommend them not just for gravel but as an excellent multi-surface tire.
