Description

The Vittoria Agarro Trail G2.0 29 Inch MTB Tire

If you are looking for a very capable and durable tire that rolls fast on hard-packed and wet trails, the Agarro trail tire is the tire for you. This is a great all-rounder tire that excels in all conditions, but particularly on faster, technical trails.

With confidence-inspiring large tread knobs, you can brake, accelerate, and corner with great confidence. The 4-compound rubber and Graphene 2.0 will ensure you have plenty of grip without compromising on durability and wear-rate. This tire also is tubeless-ready and has reinforced sidewalls, making it far more reliable on rockier terrain than ultra-light cross country tires. This tire promises to get in out and back without feeling like you are hauling too much more weight.

Highlights:

  • Max psi 43psi/2.5bar
  • Tubeless ready
  • Reinforced sidewall
  • Great all-rounder

Agarro is Mazza's little brother

My favorite MTB tire has been the Vittoria Mazza. I've tried the Enduro and Trail versions of that tire rear and front and thought it them both to be great. The Enduro gave me a bit psychological edge of having stouter sidewalls, but with the penalty of extra weight.

When it came time to replace a rear Mazza, I starting thinking that maybe I don't need the tall lugs for the hard-pack, natural trails that I ride. But I really like Mazza's grip on rock and roots while ascending. Enter the Agarro, which has climbing knobs that are similar to Mazza, but not as deep.

I've ridden Agarro Trail 29x2.4 just a few times, and it felt great, like all new rubber does. Discounting the newness, it feels to me like it has the climbing ability of the Mazza, but feels more nimble. IOW, exactly what I was looking for. I don't know what I will think long-term, but I will buy another Agarro and put it on the front wheel very soon - before that Mazza wears out. But I'll definitely keep the Mazza for a backup or to replace the Agarro if I don't like it as a front tire.

BTW, the Agarro was the easiest tire that I ever put on my rim.

I run this on the rear. This is my second one. I stuck with the Agarro because the first was great. Great traction in the Northeast US stuff I ride. Soft dirt, some dry/sandy trails, rock faces, wet roots. All great. Corners well. Pretty long lasting tread - first one lasted a long time with no knobs tearing off like others I've ridden (looking at you DHRs). Still rode well even with the knobs worn down. Only complaint is they are tough to mount tubeless, but that seems to be my rims more than the tires. I definitely recommend.
