An excellent tubeless option for the right person

So, let me preface this review with this -

I generally don't like tubeless. My previous experiences with it were so negative that I couldn't justify coming back into tubeless. However, my new wheels are designed for tubeless and I felt like maybe the tech has improved.

In the olden days, I couldn't get the tires on my (Mavic) tubeless wheels. It literally took me 4 days to get them on one of my wheels! These tires, however, mounted with barely any need for my tire levers on my new wheels (Winspace 2023 version).

Also, my previous experience with tubeless left me thinking the ride quality was just 'meh' at best. (1st gen Schwalbe tubeless). Since I usually roll on Vittoria with latex tubes, I like a soft, supple, fast ride feel. These give you all of that! They are smooth and fast!

I actually like the very smooth tread - I find the traction to be excellent in all conditions. I also regularly check my tires for small pieces of glass before a ride or race (I'm convinced that most people don't and that's why they get so many flats). The smooth tread pattern makes it very easy to see debris and small cuts that can be filled in.

Inflating the tires filled with orange seal took a regular track pump - nothing special. It took a little effort, but maybe 2 minutes of vigorous pumping and they were fine.

While I'm still not 100% sold on tubeless, at least these tires are amazing for what they do!

If you've been on the fence and love smooth rolling, high TPI tires, these are a great choice!

Tan wall tubeless road tires - hallelujah!

Why are there virtually no tan wall tubeless tires? Well if you want that look then Veloflex have your back. These tires have the "pro" tan wall look (and look amazing on my all black bike), puncture resistance appears good so far, they are light, supple, ride well and appear to be wearing well too. They also fitted my Zipp 303's easily and sealed straight away. However, I switched the tires over to another set of wheels (Hunt 4050's) after a couple of months and they had stretched noticeably. Hunts are know to be a tight fit (although I've never had an issue) but these were soooo loose when I transferred them. I got them to seal eventually with extra layers of rim tape. Also, they are close but they don't roll as well as Conti GP5000TL. All in all I am happy, because of the tan side walls, but the amount of stretch in the bead was alarming. If tan walls aren't your thing then get Contis (if your rims aren't hookless and they are in stock), they are better, but these are a nice aesthetically pleasing alternative.

Great Feel & Traction - Porous Sidewalls

I pump these to 70PSI. They roll easily and have great traction. However, the cotton casing allows a lot of air to escape. Tried Stan's & Orange Seal. I lose 20PSI overnight and appears to taper off at around 40PSI. Soft casing makes them easy to install onto the rim but inflating & seating the tires requires a compressor. Pleased with performance but the air loss worries me.

After going to the Veloflex website, I learned that Veloflex only recommends four brands of sealant, and Silca is not one of those brands....so my problem with dried up sealant (Silca) might be a result of using the wrong kind of sealant.

I might give tubeless another try, but this time I will use Stans sealant and see what happens....

Just use tubes and be happy

Set these up tubeless...what a hassle and what a mistake.

After 2 months, I pulled the tires off the rim and ALL the sealant was dry...totally and completely dry.

I cannot say for sure, but I believe the tire sidewalls must breathe or something. These tires never did weep sealant through the sidewalls, so I assumed the sealant was fine and rode all over the place thinking I was "protected". Nope. The sealant was Silca Ultimate.

The tire DO roll beautifully...so supple and smooth.

Put in latex tubes and you will love these tires.

I've put ~10 hours on these in the 28m on ENVE 5.6 disc (18/20 internal width f/r) on my 3T Strada Due. I was preciously running Conti 5000TLR in 25mm on this same combo.

I mount a fair amount of tubeless tires/year. ~20 (I switch tires a lot for gravel and endurance MTB racing). Normally I mount tubeless with the 60 gallon air compressor and a Prestaflator that are in my main shop. Usually though I can seat most tires with a floor pump and some manipulation of the tire. I just ordered a compressor for my current residence but had to give these a go with an older floor pump. No go. The sidewalls are so supple they just stayed folded. The shop down the street was nice enough to let me use the compressor in their shop and they mounted no problem. No soap and they were solidly seated when fully deflated. I don't like to use a tire that won't stay on the wheel bead when fully deflated

After inflating they leaked down completely in a min or two. But with slight overfill of Stan's and some spinning of the wheels vertically and horizontally (both sides) they lost only 10 psi overnight. After the first ride they are holding pressure fine. I always pump my tires before riding so a small overnight bleed down is a non-issue for me. Might be for others.

Tires measured just over 27mm on both wheels, regardless of the difference in internal width f/r of these wheels. They've settled out to right at 28mm.

I ran the 5000 at 80/85 psi (I'm 165) on these wheels. ENVE recommends 66psi with this wheelset and tire width. I started the first ride at 75/80 f/r. Too much. Currently running about 68/72.

All 10 hours have been on pretty bad roads with rough paving, lots of cracks and a fair amount of gravel that gets dragged out of rural gravel driveways and into the shoulder. Tires handled this very well so far, and I'm not particularly easy on gear. At 68/72 the suppleness of this tire comes through a lot better. I have not found any noticeable cuts or tears in the tread so far and I've hit chunks of gravel that made me wince a bit.

I would like to try these on my wider (25mm internal) ENVE 4.5AR wheels. The Strada's frame has plenty of room, and the 25mm internal and wider wheel for support would allow dropping to more like 45/50 which I think would allow the suppleness of this tire to shine even more.

All in all I like this tire so far. We'll see how it holds up over time, but the price/performance is hard to beat. Minus one star only because of the mounting hassle.

Very hard to mount. Scratched my carbon rims getting them on. As a tubeless tire they are very hard to get inflated. Ive been doing this for tubeless thing for 10 years long before TR tires were available so I know all the mounting tricks. These tires simply dont mount well and hold air. The interface between the bead and the rim is very hard to set. Even once they pop on they still dont hold air. Ive had 2 sets on 3 different wheels and my advice is to avoid them as a tubeless ready tire

Excellent tires. Love tubeless setups. Delivery was quick as usual and mounting these was not difficult at all. May need a compressor to seat them but other than that these tires are a breeze to install. I just check pressure often and if you need to add air you just add it. They are tubeless! Over-all, I found my tire and will recommend these to anyone looking for a high quality tubeless set up.

The fact that people complain about this tire with the stupid idea that tubeless on a road bike is the best option, is absurd. The tire is a great choice to ride. The ride is smooth and dependable. You will have flats from time to time, if you train and ride enough miles you are aware that flats do occur, and oftentimes.... it isn't the tire. I still ride tubes... I know... tubeless is cool for all the asshats that think tubeless is the new great thing. Tubes make the tire great and perform to a standard level, with no leaking or sealant to deal with. I Highly recommend these tires for an enthusiast that doesn't want to change to tubeless.

My favorite tire ever!

I have used the EVO Corsa 28C for a while now and it has become my favorite tire- which used to be the Vittoria Corsa 25c (The Vittoria 28 is too big). I have used both TLR and standard versions. The TLR is a bit heavier than the standard and maybe a bit more durable. The Veloflex 28c is the biggest tire that fits on my Factor O2 and seats nicely on my Black Inc rims. They are soft and supple and pretty durable and have that old school tubular ride feel. If you are looking for a tire to ride on all year long this may not be the tire for you. I rarely flat but after a few months of use there are usually some worriesome cuts so I replace as needed. Best of all is they mount/unmount very easily which is something that I cannot say about all of the tires that I've owned. I've run them tubeless and with latex tubes- both options are great.

Great Offering from a Great Brand

I’ve used their clinchers before and they’re amazing. The ride feel and sound is the best. These tubeless variants retain the experience. They have the traditional cotton casing with a rubbery coating and there’s a black liner inside. The sidewalls are flimsy so inflation was an adventure. They stay seated even when flat. I love these tires but I doubt they’ll last much longer than 1000 miles - again true to their clincher heritage. 28c mounted on 23mm internal width hookless rims (4mm wider than recommended on the box).

Finding a tubeless 28 right now is like finding a unicorn. I gave these tires a chance. Could find few reviews on this tire so I was unsure about them. So far I have been very pleased. They mounted nicely on my wheel set. I have about 500 miles on them so far with no complaints. They run at a higher pressure than my Vittoria tires. The drop pressure more quickly than I would like but that may be on me as I a new to mounted tubeless tires.

Price was good and so far I am happy with them. Good option considering finding tires right now near impossible and we will see how they do as the miles add up.

Supple, good grip

Bought these as a first tubeless road tire set up. I've been using tubeless for my mountain bike for years, so understand the challenges to overcome. I purchased these since reviews were good, and my first choice of tubeless tires (Continental 5000 TL) have been out of stock for nearly 1 year due to COVID. Set up was as expected - needed to use an air compressor to seat the tires before adding sealant.

The ride on these tires has been excellent and is very noticeable on the first ride compared to the prior tubed tires - very supple given the high TPI. Grip has also been excellent on dry and wet roads.

Their weight is also lighter than most others that makes these tires more responsive, but their resistance to punctures and overall mileage durability is to be seen. After about 300 miles I have had no flats.

So far, very pleased with these tires.

Bought these tires because of the good reviews and supposed value. My rear tire punctured within two days. After that, it basically punctured every ride and I ended up wasting a bunch of sealant on it. After two weeks, I took it off because it just wasn't worth the risk. If you want a good tubeless road tire, buy GP5000's.

These tires are light and fast, but most of all they appear to be very durable. After 500 miles on Louisiana roads, these tires have no visible cuts on the tread. I'm quite impressed. While they are not the best handling tire i've used, the endurance and weight make choosing these tires a no-brainer for me.

Do not recommend for tubeless setups

Recently purchased a set. No issues with setup. Got a puncture within the first 100 miles. Hole is too small to use a repair plug but will not deal with the tire at the recommended 6-8 bar (85-110psi) pressure. Tires will seal up with sealant around 4 bar (60psi). At this pressure the tire is very squishy and feels like a flat. I am 63kg with a 25c wide tire. I will be sticking to my schwalbe pro one tubeless tires.

I just got my first pair of these tires in size 28 and set them up on a set of Roval CLX 50's. The setup was super easy and I only needed a brief "puff" of air from my air compressor to properly seat the tire. Once done, I added a bit of latex based sealant (important for these tires), let the system seal, and off I went for my first ride. They ride very, very well. Fast and supple. Absolutely loving them so far.
