Keep Your Guard Up
It's time to take your bike's capabilities up a notch and hit the trails less traveled. Specifically designed for 27.5" and 29" wheeled MTB's, the Topeak DeFender™ RX 279er rear fender is the perfect choice for lightweight durable mud protection on those wet and sloppy rides.
Durability is crucial when out on the mountain, which is why this fender features an ultra-strong construction of two-tone injected plastic. This highly impact-resistant material is perfect for the pump track as well as full sends, so don't hold back. Plus, rear angle adjustment is perfect for customizing your bike to handle exactly what you need it to.
Quick-release allows DeFender™ to be installed and removed in seconds, while the ultra-secure seatpost attachment isn't easily bothered by sharp turns and unpredictable terrain. A highly polished underside helps prevent dirt buildup and aids in cleaning.

You get what you pay for
The search for an adequate MTB rear fender continues. Do not waste your time with this one. It came out of the box crooked. I can sort of live with that but I don't love it. I suppose you could heat it up and try to reset it to straight but doesn't seem like you should have to. I could also return it but it's a hassle and I don't really want to have to try that hard for a $20 fender. Any clip on fender that requires reading the instructions to mount properly should be a miss also.
I got it installed on my 29 hard tail and proceeded to try to ride with it today. It lasted 15 minutes before I took it off and and stashed it in the woods and came back later to get it with the car. During the 15 minutes it repeatedly rubbed the rear tire, bounced around and made a terrific racket. It shouldn't have to be this hard.
I suppose if you rode only on bike paths or very smooth gravel roads then perhaps this thing would work, but as a trail fender it is absolutely god awful.
