For whom the bell tolls.

The Spurcycle Better Bell is precision-built in the USA of brass and stainless-steel; it will continue to ring true for years to come. Its dome is machined from a special alloy, producing a clean tone that sounds three times longer than standard bells. Assembled in California with a hand-brushed finish, the only thing better than the way it sounds might be the way it looks.

Details:

  • Fits 22.2 to 31.8 mm handlebars.
  • Carbon safe.
  • Claimed weight: 45 g.
  • Precision-built in the USA.
  • Available in multiple hand-brushed finishes.

It keeps going and going and going...

I saw the Spurcycle Better Bell in my local bike shop and thought, Wow, people really pay that much?, but it intrigued me so I bought a used one off EBay. These things are amazing and everything you've read is true. The mounting seems complex, but is actually really simple. Hook the loop and tighten the screw. Once you have it firmly in place, hit the trigger, and you get rewarded with a nice, crisp, clear BINGGGGG! that seems to last for 30 seconds. If the note isn't crisp and clear, adjust the tension a little on the mounting screw. After buying and installing that first used bell, I was so impressed I bought three more from Western Bike Works to have one on each bike in the house.

Beware the cheap knock-offs

This is the best bell you can buy, very much worth the extra $$. Don't get sucked into buying one of the knock-offs on the market. Easy to install, small and unobtrusive on your bars, great sound. Highly recommend.

Classy looking and sounding bell
rating
by Cathy

I like to use a bell on my road bike to alert others I'm behind them-it seems to be a friendlier way than shouting to get someone's attention. This bell has a lovely sound-not the loudest out there, but loud enough to be heard several bike-lengths away, which is all that is needed. The real plus is that it is a good-looking, unobtrusive bell. The black color blends right in with my handlebars. Mounting is easy (be sure to read the instructions, as it is not as obvious as some other bells) and seems sturdy. Though pricey, I appreciate the beauty, and being all metal construction, I expect it to last longer than my prior bell with its rubber strap that broke and is not replaceable.

This bell is solidly built, small, and looks good on a bike. It sounds great and is surprisingly loud. It's not cheap but definitely worth the investment. Love it!

I bought the even more expensive black version for my super commuter 2017 Kona Roadhouse. It is a perfect accessory for this bike. Should last this lifetime and the next. No regrets.

This bell is excellent! Once you hear this bell you'll agree! Ever had to replace a bell from over use or plastic becomes brittle over the years? Ever broke a cheap one? These are the reasons to get this bell. Headphoners can even hear this bell.

I've had multiple bells in the past and they eventually break or stop working. I was looking for something that was a better build than the $12-$15 bells on the market that do not seem to last or are not reliable when I found the Spurcycle. Upon opening the package, the Spurcycle was much smaller than I expected, saving valuable space on my handlebars. The build quality was noticeable - it just feels like something that will last. The sound is exactly as described - loud and the carries. Was hesitant on spending this much on a bicycle bell but I can see this one lasting for years.

Classy looking bell that I'm not ashamed to put on my bike. It's loud, without being obnoxious. This is not your ah-OO-GAH horn for sure. I love it.

Great Bell
rating
by Anonymous

I upgraded to this bell, as my previous bell was not reliable. This bell is solidly built and rings loud. The sound of the bell does not disappear immediately. It tapers off, so folks on the trails can hear it as you approach them from behind. It costs more than most bells, but is well worth the cost.

As far as bells go, pretty bad ass.

I bought the Chris King edition with the red striker. It is really cool looking. The bell design and construction are very solid. The mounting is clean and very solid. The bell has a long, resonating tone that draws attention, but is very nice. May seem expensive to some for what it is, but it is top notch.

Bought the Chris King edition. A lot of money to pay for a simple bell but it is a high quality build. Mounting system is solid. Very attractive design looks good on my bike. Has a nice sustained tone. I like it.

Loud enough to be effective. A tidy and flexible mounting system - works well on larger handlebars. All in all, a nice package.

Mounts nicely between the grips and the front brake on a flat handlebar. Doesn't ring when it shouldn't. Rings loudly when it should.

High quality bell

Have tried several bells but did not have any luck as most were not well constructed. Installed this bell in December 2017 and love it so far after a few tries on the trails. Very high quality construction, impressive ring soundpitch and duration. High quality striker and overall design. Small form factor. Bought it in black color to match MTB handlebars.

I love the sound, appearance and size. Plenty loud for and appealingfriendly sound for warning walkers in most environments. Only issue is that the attaching strap is odd, and takes a minute to make sense of.
