Lightweight. Impressively stiff.
The new Sidi Trace 2 MTB shoe is built for the cyclist who isn't afraid of hammering up steep climbs and powering through rugged sections of trail. Leave any frustration you had for soft, flexing shoes behind, because the Sidi Trace 2 won't give out under you while you're putting maximum power to the pedals.
The new MTB RS17 sole increases stiffness without adding any weight to the shoe. With a bit of extra width in the forefoot, the mountain biking specific sole features varied lugs to provide sturdy grip when off the bike.
With the longevity of the Trace 2 in mind, the toe area, which most prone to wear and tear, is easily replaceable. Sidi's Politex material on the top of the shoe is a sturdy fabric constructed of several compacted layers of PVC, offering a smooth and extremely long-lasting finish. The Trace 2 is ready to stand up against gnarly conditions, resisting lacerations, rips and stretching -- all thanks to the eco-friendly Politex fabric. A win-win for you and the environment where you spin.
Keeping your foot in place is the reliable Tecno-3 buckle and ratcheting dials that cinch down by the millimeter, allowing you to find the perfect fit every time. The Tallone Sidi heel cup is designed to withstand extreme riding and prolonged pressure while maintaining secure placement for your ankles.
Features:
Upgraded MRB RS17 stole increases stiffness while decreasing weight
Just enough flex making it comfortable when off-the-bike
Politex material is built to last and resist wear and tear
Reinforced heel cup keeps your foot in place
Replaceable toe caps prolongs the life of your shoe
Compatible with crampons for those extra gnarly conditions

Light weight, stiff sole, great fit

SiDi shoes are very well made, fit is excellent, light weight with a still sole. Not clunky like most MTB shoes. Yes, they are more expensive but they are worth it.

So far, I've used mainly indoors on the smart trainer. The shoe is comfortable for the most part. Workmanship appears to be excellent. The show is everything I need.

Stiff sole, good price, uncomfortable tongue
by Joe B

Have been a loyal Sidi wearer for many years and overall really like this shoe with One Exception: The tongue area is very uncomfortable and it digs into my ankle. Yes, I did cut the little slits in the tongue but that wasn't enough. After wearing these for several weeks it's slightly better, but seems like it will always be a problem area.
Otherwise, the sole is very stiff, the shoe is lightweight, and is well-made. In the other areas, beside the tongue, the shoe fits well and is comfortable.
The ratchet tightener works well but feels flimsy, especially the way you need to flip up the tab to tighten it.
Overall I'd say this is a "just OK" shoe. If I bought these locally I would've returned them and tried a different model.

This is my second pair of Sidi shoes.
My first pair is only use for my road bike.
I use the trace 2 MTB for cycling indoors because they have different pedals.
Both pairs are comfortable from the first time you put them on. No issues with breaking them in.
This is a well made shoes.
I would recommend them to anyone that likes comfort and a great performance.

Recommend watching the SIDI videos showing how to lift up the ratcheting upper and adjusting to avoid having a plastic flap on your instep.
