Description

All quiet on the trail.

Shimano's Deore XT M8000 Rear Derailleur works magic on their 11-speed cassette, with a light shift action that's as precise as it is quick. Revamping the Shadow geometry with a shallower slant angle creates an ultra-low profile for avoiding rocks and other trail obstacles while also keeping the upper pulley nearer to the cogs throughout the gear range. Extra stability is of course provided by a switchable clutch that easier to adjust than ever, using an allen key to tighten or loosen the friction damper depending on the terrain and your riding preferences.

Available in multiple cage lengths.

Only have a couple hundred miles so far, but shifting with this derailleur seems very precise. No issues with chain slap or looseness with an 11 speed SRAM chain.

XT is such a great workhorse, smooth shifting, rarely requires adjustment if installed properly, and shifts great under load.

Shimano may not be on the cutting edge of bicycling technology, but just about anything they make and release works extremely well. Shimano XT is probably one of the best money/performance values in MTB. XT typically has all the key features from XTR, but made from little bit less exotic materials, but the weight difference is pretty minimal. The XT rear derail is no different. I have 3 XT rear derails on various bikes....all of them takes a beating and works very well. And cheap enough to replace without having to eat top-ramen for a month.
