The addition of an 11th cog isn't the only highlight of Shimano's newest Ultegra group. The new Rear Derailleur takes a cue from Dura-Ace, featuring a totally reworked design for crisp transitions between cogs with less lever throw required per shift.

This is made possible thanks to a new beefed up spring mechanism and redesigned cable anchor point. The Wide Link parallelogram carries over from last year's model, increasing stiffness and providing accurate shifting under load. Combine this efficient derailleur movement with Shimano's low friction PTFE coated derailleur cable (included with the Ultegra STI levers) and you've got incredibly fluid, precise shifting at the flick of a lever.

Faster, nearly effortless shifting is great, but possibly the biggest improvement for most riders is the ability to run up to an 11-32T cassette with the new Ultegra GS (medium cage) model. And, this increase in range comes with little weight sacrifice -- like the Dura-Ace mechanism, the RD-6800 has received a slimmed down body to shave a few additional grams.

The Ultegra RD-6800 Rear Derailleur is designed for use with the Ultegra 6800-series components and it's compatible with Shimano 11-speed systems only. Available in SS (short cage, 28T max cog, 33T capacity) and GS (medium cage, 32T max cog, 41T capacity) lengths. Claimed weight: 195 grams (SS model). Available in Grey.
