Description
Shimano's Ultegra-level 10-speed features trickle-down technology from their 10-speed Dura-Ace 7900 group, and is a great choice for those looking to save a little cash without sacrificing performance or adding too much weight. Shimano's tight manufacturing tolerances allow for a strong and quick-shifting cassette, with revised ramps for higher performance than previous versions, even under load. Machined holes in the larger cogs help reduce weight, and the last three cogs are held together with a lightweight alloy carrier.
Compatible with Shimano and SRAM 10-speed systems. Weight: 236 grams (12/25). Available gearing options:
- 11/25 Tooth (11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25)
- 11/28 Tooth (11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 19, 21, 24, 28)

Reviews
I've been using this 10 speed 12-25 cassette for years. Most of my shifts are only 1 tooth, which makes for instant & smooth shifting. So glad Western Bikeworks still stocks this in this age of 12 speed popularity.
I have the 12-23 and have probably 10,000 miles on it, rarely going 150 miles or more without a thorough cleaning. Works great! I like the 12-23 because I can stay in my big chainring for all but the toughest climbs on my usual routes, and the middle few gears are only 1 tooth difference so I have that nice stair-step up and down the gears so I'm always in a comfortable cadence in nearly all riding conditions. Never feel like I'm in a gear too low or high.
Very Happy my order from Western Bike Works.... It's very important to maintain a clean cassette and to ensure the chain is not stretched out. Buy the tool and check the chain regularly. With the Shimano Ultergra cassette and a new Ultergra chain, I feel faster then ever before.
When the road bike had about 16,000 miles on it, the shifting started becoming erratic. The chain would jump between gears on the rear cassette, and cleaning and carefully adjusting the rear deraileur didn't help. I replaced the cassette, the chain (which only had about 4000 miles on it), and the shifter cable, all at the same time. Now the shifting works fine, but I'll never know if it was the cassette, the chain, or the cable that fixed the problem. The cassette is well made and easy to install if you have the right cassette tool and chain whip, otherwise it would be very challenging. The next time I encounter shifting problems, I'll start by just replacing the cable before replacing the more expensive parts.
Finally gearing that is intermediate between Mountain and race. The 12-30 10 speed is perfect on my cross bike for some serious off road and touring rides. Shimano quality is also a big plus - quick shifting and durability is a given. I bought the cassette for a loaded tour and now use it to take on local MTB trails. It has made the cross bike more versatile and fun. I would recommended for adventure rides, steep road climbs and tours!
I've bought a couple of these now and they are pretty hard to kill. I couldn't justify replacing my cassette with the higher end ones that I seemed to kill very quickly. I put these on and honestly I don't notice any difference. They shift very well and have had pretty good longevity so far. I also have one on my cross rig and it has held up easily to a season of mud, dust, muck, and ice.
Bought this Ultegra cassette to go wih my new wheelset. I concur with claim that is better shifting. It is very smooth and precise.
Also, enjoying the new wheelset. They are lighter than my old Mavic wheels. They roll better, ride better and give me the option to go tubeless in future.
This is a great option especially with the extended gearing range of the 12-30T cassette. I run it with a 105 rear derailleur (the newer 5701 series, short cage and older 105 derailleurs won't work) and it works great. It keeps humming along no matter what rain, mud and road salt I throw on it. Obviously you'll get the best results if you keep it clean.
I have a 10-speed road bike with Shimano Ultegra components. The cassette range was 12-25. Both my daughters live in areas that are quite hilly and I started to feel that I needed a little help every once in a while. I decided to try this Shimano Ultegra cassette with a range of 12-30. Switching the cassettes was no problem. Shifting is still perfect. I did not have to increase the chain length or purchase a long cage derailleur. Everything feels great. I sometimes miss the 16 tooth cog but it is not much of an adjustment to make for my pedaling ability. I am extremely happy with this purchase.
I needed a spare ultegra cassette for my indoor smart trainer to match what I have on my race bike. Western Bike Works had the best price I could find on the internet at the time. Couldn't beat it and couldn't lose with this purchase!
used on gravel bike that is used year round in Minnesota with a variety of terrains and climates, Ultegra cassettes have never failed to deliver smooth gear changes regardless of the ice, sand, mud, snow conditions exposed to.
