Description
Shimano's Polymer Coated Inner Shift Cable is the slickest around.
Originally developed for the Dura Ace 9000 and Ultegra 6800 groupsets, these inner shift cables feature a friction-reducing polymer coating over the stainless steel cable. If you're looking for smooth, crisp shifting all season long, look no further than the Polymer Coated Inner Shift Cable from Shimano.

Reviews
Used as a rear shifter cable for a 105 equipped Canyon carbon Endurance road bike. Original equipment cable frayed after only 5,000 miles. My hope is that this expensive coated cable will last 3 times as long. I should know in about 4 years (or less if it fails). Shifting is fine, but shifting was fine with the stock, uncoated shifter cable before it started to fray.
No other cable shifts as smooth as these polymer coated cables when they're new, however, the coating breaks down long before the cable does, and clogs the housing, thus making shifting troublesome. Instead, opt for the regular SS cable and just inject some lube in the housings before inserting the cable.
