Stop and go.
Shimano's Dura Ace all-around C40 wheelset has become even more versatile with this disc brake, tubeless-ready WH-R9170 model. The full carbon rims measure 37 mm deep and 24 mm wide, making them at home on the flats, the climbs, and the cyclocross course, and hybrid angular cup and cone bearings ensure they roll silky smooth in all conditions. OPTBAL 2:1 rear spoke lacing uses twice as many spokes on the drive side to even out spoke tension for a stronger wheel, furthered by an offset rim and wider flange spacing that improves rigidity and power transfer.

Efficient mid depth wheels
3 of 3 customers found this review helpful.
Im using these on my Cervlo C5. The HED Ardennes that came with the bike are great for gravel because theyre a bit compliant. But theyre not as stiff and efficient for climbing and fast rides on pavement. The DA 9170 wheels are very stiff and efficient while also being about 100 gr lighter. The ride quality reflects the carbon construction soaking up road buzz. In high speed turns theyre laterally stiff and stable. DA hubs are exceptional.
