You might think that Shimano's Di2 electronic front derailleurs have made mechanical ones a thing of the past, but their latest Dura Ace FD-R9100 puts up a convincing argument to the contrary. Its long cage results in a powerful shift that's lighter to operate, and its clever construction greatly simplifies setup, accommodating a variety of cable routing options including full housing setups and incorporating a cable tension adjuster so you can dial in the indexing without undoing the cable each time.

Compatible with Shimano 11-speed road drivetrains.

Details:

  • Integrated cable tension adjuster
  • Compatible with multiple cable routing options
  • Ability to accommodate full housing
  • Lighter operation
  • Race-ready design for seamless operation with short chainstays and 135 mm rear O.L.D.

No news here - best shifting gear train on the planet. Needed a replacement due to wear (at around 40,000 mi.) Glad to find one at Western Bikeworks.

Better than DA 9000

I bought this to replace a functional Dura Ace 9000 front when building up a new frame. It was a bit of a splurge, but I feel like it's quite a bit better. The shifts are a bit quicker, but also it's far more out of the way (no tire or frame clearance issues), and the built in cable tensioning is fantastic.

Pretty typical for Dura Ace products. Works flawlessly and necessary with the new DA cranks as chainline has changed.
