Shimano's CX70 Front Derailleur has been specially designed for the rigors of cyclocross racing, with a top-pull option for CX frames with mud shedding top tube cable routing. A unique cage shape deliver effective gear transitions over typical compact 'cross chainring set-ups, but despite this off-road-specific functionality, the Ultegra-level CX70 remains compatible with all Shimano road components as well.

The FD-CX70 is available in both top-pull and bottom-pull models, is compatible with double chainrings up to 52t. It works with any combination of large and small rings with tooth counts within 16 teeth of each other, so a 48/36t combination is no problem at all. It's offered in braze-on, 34.9mm and a 31.8/28.6mm model.

It's compatible with Shimano 6700, 5700 and 4600-series 10-speed systems.

Group Compatibility: Shimano 10 Speed

Max Sprocket Size: 52 Teeth

Perfect for the cross setup!

I bought this to replace a regular size front derailleur. This is a bit smaller than your normal derailleur and fits cross gearing so much better. My old derailleur didn't give me any clearance to my frame when setup to be effective. This one works great and takes all the abuse you can dish out without a bobble.

A real , tested CX design instead of a mud packed malfunctioning road bike front derailleur.

This design works on CX frames with the fderailleur stop braze-on on the upper section of the seat tube (rear facing). The set up looks unusual as the bare shift cable goes from the ferrule stop to the fderailleur cable clamp at an angle that looks like a banjo sting hanging in the breeze. This only looks weird to a roadie. CX'rs know it's OK 'cause this will never jam up with mud and debris. Go watch any euro cyclocross race and check out what is really used in the field.

Happy Trails,

It works like it should.

It's a front derailleur. And it works like one. It fits smaller chainrings a bit better and you can get it it a top pull version. So that means no more digging grass and mud out of your pulley on a cross bike.
