Don't fear the mud.

Shimano's Ultegra-level CX70 Cyclocross Brake is the cantilever brake updated and redesigned to meet the needs of cyclocross racers. It's got an open design for excellent stopping power and unbeatable mud shedding and forged construction for an excellent balance of durability and low weight. Cartridge pad holders allow for the use of any Shimano-compatible brake pad inserts, and additional washers are included for a custom fit with different rim widths. Each brake weighs 165 grams (including mounting hardware, widest washers and straddle cable). Sold as front or rear.

These brakes work very nicely when adjusted properly, but if not, they are VERY squeaky. They are amazing quality and are really fun to ride with!

I've got Shimano CX-50 canti brakes on two bikes and they work great. The CX-50s are essentially the same as the CX-70s, just not as highly finished.

Be aware many parts for different rim width. Overly complicated. 3 lengths of bolts along with three different thick spacers. Real pain.

Replaced my old, squeaky Avid brakes on my x-bike. These are quiet and stop much better than my old brakes.
