Description

Ride Or Run, These Tights Are Good-To-Go

The Pearl Izumi Men's Thermal Tight is a go-to cycling tight made for those days when comfort depends on consistent warmth.

PI thermal fleece fabric is stretchy enough to allow for fewer panels to improve fit and the wide waistband is comfortable without feeling restrictive. Because wet is the enemy of warm, they add full PI Dry® water-shedding technology to ward off splashes and light rain.

These tights do not include a chamois, so wear over your favorite cycling shorts for ultimate versatility.

Features:

  • Ultra-soft Thermal fleece fabric for pedaling comfort and thermal regulation
  • PI Dry® technology for permanent water-shedding performance
  • BioViz® reflective elements for low-light visibility
  • 56% Recycled Nylon, 30% Recycled Polyester, 14% Lycra® Elastane

Great Tights for Cold, Cold Morning Rides
rating

I have had these tights for a month now, and they are great for those chilly 40-degree early morning rides. I am 5'9 140 lbs., ride approx .400+ fast miles every month, and the medium size fit me perfectly. They fit very snug, hence the term "tights" and they fit flawlessly over my existing riding shorts. After I have put them on, I completely forget I am wearing them, and only think about how cozy they are. Any slight extra legging at the bottom of the tights can be used to cover the sock and shoe area to fight the chilly winds.

Inadequate length for tall people
rating
by Cold Weather Cyclist in CT

Bought this cold weather tight I n early 2023 and at that time the PI website indicated it had a uniform leg inseam of 33 inches across all sizes - from small to 2XL. As a 6 ft 3 in person with a 34 inch inseam I was prepared for the tights to leave skin exposed at the ankle. Wearing high socks or shoe covers - which is my norm in cold weather- takes care of that. What I didnt expect is that the tights are short waisted at the top and sit a bit below both my waistline and the top of my regular cycling shorts underneath. It makes for a unsecure and distracting fit while riding. As other reviewers have noted, the absence of leg zippers and a wristband drawstring are disappointing downgrades PI has made in pursuit of cost savings.

Apart from these limitations I have found the tights provide ample warmth down to at least 25 degrees and the thick material is an effective windblocker. I dont tide in snow or rain so I cant comment on water repellent performance.

excellent as compression tights

I normally use bike tights with pads, but I need a compression tight for snow shoeing while recovering from a pulled leg muscle. They really help and are warm under any kind of snowshoe pants.

For skinny long-legged people

Legs are very tight for the length; hard to pull on, you have to gather them up and unravel them up your leg. They can feel tight and bunch up around the knees. Material is quite thick.
