The FR-5.2 Cassette Lockring Tool also fits common 12-spline lockrings including those from Shimano, SRAM, SunRace, SunTour, Chris King, and others. It's been redesigned to be compatible with Shimano's disc-brake lockrings, and its durable heat-treated steel with precision cut splines ensures clean insertion and hassle-free removal.

1" wrench flats. A chain whip is also required for cassette removal.

Works with my Shimano 10-speed cassettes.

Specialized tool to fit 12-spline lockring. I found it helpful to hold it in place by re-inserting quick release skewer before wrenching to keep it from slipping out.

Does what it's supposed to

I bought this after I realized that my FR-1 tool would only work with my SRAM lockrings. I figured it was cheaper to buy a second tool and made more sense than replacing all my Shimano lockrings with SRAM models! It works like it's supposed to and the price was great. In fact, the design is better than the SRAM version because the splines are better defined, which results in no slippage.

Good Cassette Tool

I recently bought some Zip Firecrest 404's from Western Bike Works and needed to change the cassette from my old wheelset to the new 404's. Using the Park Tool FR-5 cassette tool along with a Park chain whip I was easily and quickly able to change the cassette over to my new wheels. By the way - love my 404's!

I used this to take off my cassette that was put my old wheels, and also put on my old cassette to my new wheels. This tool works seamlessly and is just a must get if you are using a Sram or Shimano cassette.

Works well - needs a bigger hole for the hub

Had a hard time using this with a SRAM three speed hub since the hole for the hub just a little bit too small. After a trip to the drill press the tool works great. For normal hubs it should work fine.

My cassette lockring came loose due to sloppy work by my former mechanic,so i decided it was worth it to invest in a tool, and it was.The only thing I would mention is it takes a 1 inch socket, which I happened to have, to fit over the end of the FR-5.
