And so when that front wheel lets go, bars clip a tree or you get a drop-off a bit wrong, the DRT3 MIPS Helmet ensures your head is protected.
The impact-absorbing foam and touch outer shell are what work together to minimize the damaging forces of any impacts to your head. That tough outer shell also offers extra durability, just what you need for the rough and tumble of mountain biking where overhanging branches and bushes can often catch you out.
MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System)
The MIPS system is designed to provide added safety for helmets in many accidents. For certain impacts, the MIPS system can reduce harmful rotational motion that might otherwise be transferred to the user's head.
Rotational motion is a common cause of concussions in oblique hits to the head. In a crash, the Mips system is designed to move slightly inside the helmet to help redirect forces away from the head.
Fit and Forget
A helmet that fits well is both safer and more comfortable than an ill-fitting helmet. And here the DRT3 and its Skull Matrix 360-degree Fit system ensure you can make easy adjustments to optimize both security and comfort. It's integrated within the MIPS system so doesn't add bulk either.
The combination of textile foam padding and silicone sweat guard also boosts comfort and makes sure sweat is dealt with quickly and efficiently. The large vents also ensure you enjoy plenty of airflow, keeping you cool when you're riding hard.
The DRT also features Oakley's In-vent Eyewear storage, a place to stash your sunglasses when you don't need them. And you also have an adjustable visor, perfect for keeping the sun off your eyes.
